Raw

This poem is dedicated to my friend Genie (Palestine Rose)

When you write raw

You leave your heart exposed
Unmasked
Unprotected

It will carry many cuts and bruises

It might even bleed its life out

43ecf
I too,  write raw

Not to appease
Neither to please
And certainly not to hurt or cause harm

Not to praise or to be praised
Not to condemn or put anyone down

embroidery5
But to heal and ease the pain
Of an injured world
With which I fell madly in love
Long before the day I was born

50

I hear rivers and oceans weeping I go to pieces
I see the tears running down sky’s face,

I melt away, I go insane

I would peel off the kernel of my soul
I would crush my being to nothingness
I would dwindle and wither away
I would set my heart ablaze
To see a child smile

Take my heart
Take my heart
grind it down
Sprinkle the dust over this tormented world
Turn it to compost
Let it feed love-hungry souls

993300_10200291473913046_2251577_n
In the palm of my hand I hold my heart, tender and sore
With delight I give it away
Watch the blossoms budding around
As one child smiles again

Wouldn’t you?

  1. I like writing raw too, life is real and the often told stories of Palestinians lives are bandaged, torn and shaken sometimes to death. Raw courage is given a beating heart when we bare witness to the lives of Palestinians in all of their real time traumas victories and stripes earned in lessons learned. Nahida sees this sense of reality without the self involved, without riches, pride of ownership or bragging rights about the story, she sees Palestinian Rose raw and un cut, like she lives and breaths in the streets where the Oranges of Jaffa are in the sweat of the children. True beauty of such epic magnanimity just exudes human greatness without any need to even say our names as we witness this utterly empowered people striving as sisiphus under the rock of gibraltars set in their paths. Palestinians get dirt in tunnels and they are beautiful, Palestinian children bare burdens in bare feet in the hot sun, stand in lines to get to school waiting at checkpoints, have their homes invaded, neighborhoods bombed, lives shattered in a litany of abuses so vast at to illicit only silence from other lambs, but the Palestinian way of life is to just be, no white washing, spinned up narratives or glossy hollywood mag spreads for them, they are absolutly magnificently gorgeous in every conceivable way just as the live and breath in real time 24/7 365 days a year. Raw is real, no person ever can take credit for hwt they see when their eyes are the eyes of ancient visionaries with great wisdom stored in holy places of their refuge, None is wise, we only chase the wind as don quixotis hoping for an updraft to heaven, Palestinians breath into our lives raw beauty and for many that is real beauty, no mirage, no fancy rings ,secret club or posh jet set there, it isnt about anyone important ever, it.s about Palestine Rose raw, in the flesh, as she is and she is beautiful in the eyes of this beholder in every conceivable way forever.
