My First Letter

My first letter

 Image

During the 1967 war, I was only seven when we were forced to leave Palestine in search of safety, thinking that it’s only a matter of weeks before we could go back home. We were denied that right ever since.

As a refugee in Jordan I wrote this letter to my auntie who stayed behind in Palestine.  However, she never received it.  When I saw her 37 years later, I read the letter to her face to face.

Dearest Auntie Intisar,

I have been waiting

For many, many days

Many, many weeks

To come back home

And see you

Give you a big hug

I miss you so

I miss my bedtime stories

You used to tell me

Ali Baba, wishater Hassan

I miss your warm and gentle hand

Stroking through my hair

Till I fall asleep

I tried to come with my mum

And cross the boarders

Many times

“They” wouldn’t let us through

If I’d known

That this is what they’d do

I would never ever have left Palestine

But don’t worry auntie

Because I have a plan

When I grow up

I’ll go to university

I’ll study magic

And I’ll become a fairy

I’ll turn all the soldiers into little ants

Harmless, tiny and peaceful

They’ll go away

And Leave us alone

We’ll cross the boarders

And be together again

In our homeland

Palestine

Love, hugs and kisses

Your niece

Nahida

A PALESTINIAN QUOTE

From

لدراسات الاسرى

Don’t call me a Palestinian of the Palestinian Territories because it is called Palestine.

Don’t give me a fraction of my homeland and call it a solution.

Don’t give me oppression and call it peace.

Don’t give me a Bantustan and call it a home.

Don’t give me a prison and call it freedom.

Don’t draw the borders of my existence according to your whims and interests and call it a state.

My home is not a disfigured result of a till-death-do-us-part-marriage between the occupier and the champions of negotiators-for-life that yields a Bantustan on 20% of my homeland.

My home is not a “lets legitimize the Zionist racist colonization of Palestine and hope they accept us and allow us to live with them one day” tale for the sake of fame and a shoulder pat from “conditional-supporters”, while giving the Zionist usurpers a right to my land which they stole and continue to colonize… a right to my home which they destroyed and continue to destroy…. a right to my village which they ethnically cleansed and continue to do so to the rest of Palestine… a right to Palestine, the Palestine they raped and continue to rape for over 63 years, a rape they are proud of and celebrate very year while denying us even the tears and the memories and the names of the victims they massacred and the villages they erased.

My Palestine is the home that is mine since the dawn of history till the end of history.

My Palestine is the home of my ancestors, the home between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River.

SYS: Save Your Souls

Save Your Souls

The rules I follow are

  • Ignore the ignorant
  • Ignore the arrogant
  • With
dishonesty, no real debate or dialogue is possible

Hence, I do not talk to or discuss anything with zionists, I only
address them

As a Palestinian who suffered personally at the
hands of zionists; a lifetime of horror, loss of home, loss of land,
loss of homeland, loss of identity, loss of loved ones; I say: yes
indeed they have robbed us of everything they could get their hands on,
but not our faith, not our dignity, not our courage, not our humanity,
not our love of life, not our hope!

As
such, this is yet another call for those zionists who wish to save
their souls:

You have come from far away countries,
occupied our land by force and terror, oppressed our people with your
might and power, furthermore, instead of showing good will or remorse
and a sincere desire to befriend and live in peace with your neighbours;
you still go beside yourselves to prove to us and to the world how
reprehensible you have become, as you sink deeper and deeper into
misdemeanour, corruption, fabrication and violence

What you
fail to understand is that every thing in the world is a flux

The situation in the Middle East will not stay the same for ever

The support that you got accustomed to, will no doubt evaporate as
your crimes get exposed

The balance of power will undoubtedly
change

Sooner or later it will shift, and it won’t be a shift
in your favour

And before you know it, you will suddenly find
yourselves surrounded by billions of outraged Muslims and angry people
from all over the world

Instead of preparing for a good future
with the people who surround you, who are mostly Muslims; what do you
do? You go berserk with your lies and aggression; and like a mad dog,
you wage a wild decadent war against Islam as a religion and against
Muslims as followers

What a pathetic vision of a pathetic
tribe, who chose to implant itself in the heart of two billion Muslims!

Can’t you see the pitiable sad future you are creating for
yourselves, generating only anger by your arrogance and uninvited
aggression?

Instead of attempting to understand the culture and
the faith of those around you, you go spewing lies and propaganda in an
attempt to disfigure the Islamic resistance that refuses to bow down to
your arrogance and greed

Instead of embracing the humane and
civilized culture that is still willing to forgive you despite the
horrors you have shown, by being nothing but a revolting boil in its
midst; you go attacking the very religion that teaches its followers
that forgiveness is better that revenge

Instead of trying to
understand those humans whom you’ve wronged and dehumanized; you still
feel smug and self-satisfied, drunken by your temporary superficial
might, and you keep deluding yourselves by perceiving those you’ve
oppressed as monsters and terrorist

Instead of opening your
hearts to learning some aspects of civilization (such as compassion,
honesty, generosity, hospitality, and tolerance) from your
culturally-refined neighbours, you deceive yourselves by the delusion of
your chosen-ness and you fantasise that your barbarity is a “light unto
the nations”!

Be ware poor souls of zion; this wretched attack
against Islam could be the final straw that will shatter your might
once and for all

You still smother yourselves with conceit and
self-importance as you shrivel into your tribal mentality, obscuring
every opportunity of understanding, destroying bridges and building
walls around your clan, isolating yourselves further and further away
from the human family

The superiority features and nauseating
arrogance that you display reflects only a poorer mentality and inferior
morality if only you could grasp

You have disfigured and
blemished your own faith, if only you could comprehend!

The
same beautiful true religion that was once inclusive you’ve
managed to reduce into the most tribalistic and exclusive ideology man
had ever known!

You are very short-sighted in that sense, as
you fail to look even a few years ahead!

For exclusivity is, by
definition, finite, hence self-destructive

Hear me well clan
of zion; even though we, Muslims, are not vengeful, nor are we
unforgiving by the virtues of our faith; however if you continue in the
same mannerism of barbaric behaviour in Palestine, along with your
shameless hasbara masks; you will inevitably face your retribution

What you fail also to see is that the world around you is changing

The world is awakening to the reality of your crimes

And
guess what? There is no going back

There is no way of
covering-up your crimes now

I know that you are still living in
your comfort bubble behind your “security” wall (psychological and
physical); but be absolutely sure that when you come face to face with
the hard reality about the changing world around you, the TRUTH will hit
you hard like a tsunami as never before

And while you are
still choosing to live in a state of complete denial, refusing to see
what is happening elsewhere, the truth will strike in a manner
unthinkable.

It will disturb your sleep as you wake up to the
nightmare of your creation

Shatter your illusions as you open
your eyes to the new reality

Paralyze your limbs as your
missiles and weapons rendered useless

And silence your lies
once and for all

NOTHING… NOTHING will save you then from the
outrage and anger of the decent people of the world except what you
could save NOW of whatever little left of your morality and humanity

Things as they stand now:

You are tiny tiny minority in a
sea of Muslims that surrounds you, and an ocean of world population who
are sick to their bones with your never-ending crimes and arrogance

Sooner or later you are going to find yourself in a position of
vulnerability

Sooner or later the scale of power will shift

This is only natural

Think……………….

………………………

Think of what would you like to happen to you in this imminent
future?

Would you rather carry on with your crimes against
Muslims in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Pakistan…etc?

Would you rather carry on with your hateful lies and fabrication
against Islam?

Would you rather create more and more enraged
and infuriated enemies?

Or would you rather STOP your crimes,
EMBRACE the TRUE owners of the land and WELCOME them back home, GIVE
them their land back, SEEK PEACE SINCERELY and PLEAD for FORGIVENESS
before it’s too late?

I am speaking with the same words that
many before me had spoken to you with

I am giving you a warning

(But don’t be so pathetic as to think that this warning is from a
little exiled Palestinian woman)

Ignore it if you wish

Or
be wise and heed

The choice is yours

A letter from the heart of a Muslim woman

A letter from the heart

of a Muslim woman

to the American people
who support Israel and its
wars

Dear friends

I am writing
this letter to you because of the devastation that is caused by your government
in our lands, and because of the immanent threat to world peace that I see your
government pushing for, again.

The way
things are moving now, I foresee great danger, and terrible risk to peace and
security to the whole world.

I am writing
to you because I care very much about humanity and I love our planet, with all
its inhabitants.

I am writing
to you because I believe in civilised dialogues, where people can express
themselves freely, without being patronized, silenced, ridiculed, imprisoned or
even killed for their beliefs.

I am writing
to you to build bridges not walls, and to take you on a short journey so you
may see things from our perspective.

 I am
writing to you for the purpose of advancing more realistic and humanistic
understanding and for trying together to achieve a more tolerant and peaceful
world.

I see
systematic efforts by most of your media pundits, to work endlessly at
dehumanizing Muslims and their faith, and I see that as pre-emptive
justification for more military attacks against more innocent civilians, aiming
at our total destruction.

When a group
of people (Muslims in this case) are seen as intrinsically evil, and when their
faith and beliefs are portrayed as violent, malicious, and aggressive, then,
anything done to those people is acceptable and defensible.

Without
talking to one another, and without trying sincerely to put extra effort to
understand the other, we will all be losers, and we’ll be driving our beautiful
world towards catastrophe and devastation… that breaks my heart, as a mother,
and as a human being.

 Is it
too much to ask “to open our hearts and our minds and listen to what the other
has to say” ?

Can we learn
something from little children; where prejudice and bigotry are non-existent ?

 Words
in your media are used and manipulated to imply deceptive meanings, so you are
kept in a state of constant fear, watching over your shoulders in panic from
“Islamist monsters bent on invading and destroying you”, never mind
how absurd and ridiculous such allegations in reality are.

The
zionist-controlled media has hijacked our language, and vocabulary and
disfigured our religion

They drilled
in people’s heads that:

Islam is
terror

Jihad is holy
war

Fatwa is
death penalty

Muslim women
are the manifestation of oppression, uneducated, forced into wearing the veil,
and enslaved by their men.

Muslim men
are fanatics, cruel, sadistic wife beaters

Muslim
children are terrorists in the making

When a c rime
is committed, the criminal is a criminal, but when a Muslim commits a crime,
even a petty one, he is immediately labelled a “Muslim criminal”
irrespective the fact that his faith opposes such crimes.  A Muslim
criminal committing a crime becomes “a Muslim terrorist”, and he
committed the crime because he is a Muslim and his faith teaches evil!

If only
Americans could understand that what is published in US medias and blogs, is
not the truth, but as much a lie as when your bankers all told you could borrow
almost limitless and never suffer any economic consequences.

The hard
facts about Islam and Muslims, are different, and the vast majority of Muslims
would not fit to this ugly stereotype.

Islam is
peace
: the root of the word Islam is Salam, which is one of the Holy Names of
God.  Salam is Arabic for Peace. The meaning of the word Islam is
beautiful as Islam is Arabic for bring into Peace.

The word Salam
is used for greeting others. Saying “as’Salam alaikum” to someone
means “Peace be upon you!”

When a Muslim
greets another person with “Peace be upon you,” the greeter is in
fact proclaiming a contract of Peace with the other person. Hence, if the
greeter has non-peaceful intentions towards the other person, he would be
engaging in hypocrisy, which is one of the Major Sins in Islam!

 “When a
(courteous) greeting is offered you, meet it with a greeting still more
courteous, or (at least) of equal courtesy. God takes careful account of all
things” Quran (4:86)

Jihad is
an Arabic word that means the endeavour to do your best to make this world a
better one:

 Any
effort to help achieve that is called jihad, or struggle, going to school to
learn is a form of jihad, being a mother rearing children is jihad, spreading
knowledge through teaching or writing is jihad, treating patients is jihad,
looking after sick parents is jihad, also defending yourself when attacked is
jihad, and struggling against oppression is jihad.

Any action
that one undertakes in order to bring good to mankind is jihad

Life with all
its ups and downs is a jihad

The highest
form of Jihad, however, is the inner Jihad, which is the Major Jihad that means
the never ending inner struggle against one’s arrogance, greed, and selfishness
in order to achieve the Generous Temperaments.

The Prophet
Muhammad, Peace be upon him, declared “Verily I was sent to this World to
define (and live by) the Generous Temperament.”

According to
him, the codes of Generous Temperament (makarem elakhlaq) are seven:

“Pardoning
those who have oppressed you

Giving to
those who have deprived you

Connecting
with those who have shunned you

Benefiting
those who have abused you

Counselling
those who have deceived you

Forgiving
those who have maligned you

Forbearing
with those who have angered you.”

Contrary to
common beliefs, the concept of holy war does NOT exist in Islam; it is a
European concept from the days of the crusaders, and has absolutely no
equivalent in Islam, it does however in the minds of the new crusaders as it seems
from so many video clip we have seen, of your hypocrite politicians and zionist
“evangelists”, and in the sick minds of those who invaded our lands
and murdered our people.

To translate the concept of Holy War into Arabic is almost impossible. It would
sound something like “Harb Muqaddassah” which does not exist in Arabic, even
the concept of it is unheard of, never used in spoken or written language, as
it is too contrary to Islamic principles and values !

How
misleading and dishonest is the translation and misconception of jihad as a
holy war then!

By writing
this, all I am doing is reclaiming my language back.

 Fatwa is
nothing but an expression of an opinion by an informed person:

 Being
what it is, it is not for any one to enforce their “fatwa” / opinion upon
anyone.

There is no
hierarchy system, no priesthood, no church institution, and no clergy in Islam;
and that is something totally misunderstood, and rarely ever mentioned.

Any Muslim is
entitled to make his/ her opinion from their understanding of the Qur’anic
text.

If those
opinions are expressed by some knowledgeable person, they are called “fatwa”.

All this
falsification, distortion, and misrepresentation of Islam (deliberate or not)
if not addressed and sorted out urgently, logically and with open-mindedness
and compassion, then our world is doomed!

Being a
Muslim woman and knowing exactly what Islam teaches, I feel dismayed and
heartbroken at the image that you are made to believe as a true representation
of us and of our faith

Now, if I
come to you and say: “well, no in fact Islam teach this or does not teach that”
would you take my word for it?

 Of
course not, so, I “quote” some of the specific teachings in order to
reflect-precisely- the position of Islam, from the most authentic source to
Muslims: the Qur’an.

Democracy and
Freedom of choice:

“No
compulsion in religion or ideology” (2:256).

 “Say: O
you that reject Faith!  I worship not that which you worship, and you do
not worship that which I worship… To you be your Way, and to me mine”.
(109:1-6)

“We showed
him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will)”. (76:3)

 “Let
there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining
what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain
felicity”. (3:104)

“And
their affairs are (conducted) through consultation among themselves.”
(42:38)

“If any one
does a righteous deed, it ensures to the benefit of his own soul; if he does
evil, it works against (his own soul). In the end will you (all) be brought
back to your Lord”. (45; 15)

Relations
with others:

‘O mankind!
We created you from a single soul, male and female, and made you into nations
and tribes, so that you may come to know one another. Truly, the most honoured
of you in God’s sight is the greatest of you in righteousness. God is
All-Knowing, All-Aware’. (49.13)

 “And
among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations
in your languages and your colours: verily in that are Signs for those who
know”.(30-22)

Women’s’
issues

“Whoever
works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him will We give a
new Life, a life that is good and pure and We will bestow on such their reward
according to the best of their actions”. (16-97)

 “The
Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is
just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise regular
charity, and obey God and His Messenger. On them will God pour His mercy: for
God is Exalted in power, Wise”. (9:71)

“If any do
deeds of righteousness, be they male or female – and have faith, they will
enter Heaven, and not the least injustice will be done to them”. (3-124)

“Then shall
anyone who has done an atom’s weight of good, see it! And anyone who has done
an atom’s weight of evil, shall see it”. (99:7-8)

“It is He who
created you from a single soul, and made its mate of like nature, in order that
he might dwell with her (in love)”. (7:189)

“And among
His Signs is this: He created for you mates from among yourselves that ye may
dwell in tranquillity with them, and He plants love and mercy between your
(hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect. 30-21

“For Muslim
men and women, for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for
truthful men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men
and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in Charity, for men
and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their
chastity, and for men and women who engage much in God’s praise; for them has
God prepared forgiveness and great reward”. (33:35)

War and
peace:

 The
general rule is:

Fighting is
only allowed in case of self-defence, against Aggression (odwan) or Persecution
(fitnah).

‘You may
fight in the cause of God against those who fight you, but do not initiate
aggression. God does not love transgressors.’ (2.190)

“O
believers, be you guardians of justice, witness for God. Let not a group’s
hostility to you cause you to deviate from justice; be equitable – that is
nearer to being God-conscious.” (5:8)

“To those
against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight back), because they are
wronged; and verily, God is most powerful for their aid; (They are) those who
have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,-(for no cause) except
that they say, our Lord is God”. (22:39-40)

“God commands
justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all
shameful deeds, and injustice and antagonism: He advices you, that ye may be
reminded.” (16-90)

“No soul
shall be made to bear the burden (liability) of another.” (35:18)

 “But
show them forgiveness, and say “Peace!” and soon shall they know!”
(43; 89)

“The
recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a
person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from God; for (God)
loveth not those who are wrong-doers”. (42:40)

‘If they seek
peace, then seek you peace. And trust in God for He is the One that heareth and
knoweth all things.’ (8.61)

“But God does
call to the Home of Peace” (10-25)

“Ye who
believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to God, even as against
yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or
poor: for God can best protect both. Follow not the desires (of your hearts),
lest ye swerve, and if ye distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily
God is well-acquainted with all that ye do. Thus, have We made of you a nation
justly balanced, that ye might be witnesses over the nations, and the Messenger
a witness over yourselves” (2-143)

  “Show
forgiveness, speak for justice and avoid the ignorant.” (7:199)

“It may well
be that God will bring about love (and friendship) between you and those with
whom you are now at odds.” (60:7)

“Nor can
goodness and evil be equal. Repel evil with what is best: if you do so, he who
is your enemy will become a close friend.” (41.34)

**********************

I am only a
mother, and I am also a person who detests violence, war, weapons, killings…etc

I am sick to
death with war and violence

And I wish
what I have seen and what my people had seen on nobody.

 Centuries
of imperialism, and illiteracy followed by the brutal uprooting of a whole
nation from their homeland in order to give it away to people from other parts
of the world just because of their Jewish-ness, and to free the European’s mind
of the guilt of the holocaust (which we –Muslims and Palestinians- had nothing
to do with, but ended up having to pay the price for Europe’s crimes)

 Year
after year, decade after decade of injustice towards the Palestinians, accompanied
by unequivocal support from USA and Europe to the Zionist entity, led the
Muslims to resent the hypocritical policies of the Western world.

This blind
support of the Zionists was/ is perceived by Muslims as an act of aggression
and grave injustice.

Yet those
fundamental basic facts are not represented to you, what you led to believe is
that Muslims hate your freedom, your democracy, they are jealous of your way of
life, and they hate peace… what a load of nonsense!!!

Muslims feel oppressed
and persecuted by YOUR government, its unjust policies, its unconditional
support of the terrorist zionist regime and its criminal wars and aggression

 They
feel that justice had been denied to them, and that they have been constantly
under attack.

Exposed to so
much injustice and oppression it is only natural that people would have
resentments and would look for ways to liberate themselves from oppression and
modern slavery, which is precisely the case in many Muslim countries nowadays.

 And instead
of trying to right the wrongs you’ve done over decades of oppression and
injustice, what do you do?

You go yet
again and attack more Muslim countries; you bomb Afghanistan and Iraq reducing
them to rubble! And go on to threaten Iran with nukes!

You kill over
a million more!

And what is
more ridiculous is that you are doing so whilst claiming that you’re doing it
for the sake of liberating us from our backwardness, ignorance, and our
fanatics…

 What
are you thinking? Do you think we are idiots?

 We are
sick to death with your interference in our lands, and our countries

We are sick
to death with your domination and your attitude of superiority towards us and
the rest of the world.

We are sick
to death of you trying to impose on us your ways, your thinking, your problems
and your solutions.

Imperialism
has no room in the future of our world, and most certainly, that must include
thought imperialism.

WE WANT TO BE
FREE

We want to be
free in our homelands

We want to be
able to exercise our rights to choose our representatives and our governments

We want our
human rights that enable live peacefully and with dignity with no threat of
bombing or ethnic cleansing

We want our
right to go home and not to live forever as refugees

We want our
right to believe in God or not to believe if we so wish to

We want our
right to be equal human beings with equal value to our lives

We want to be
free to solve the ills of our societies in our own ways not by copy-pasting
your experiences and your solutions.

 It’s
not good enough to try to justify the horrors that you’ve inflected and still
inflecting upon us, by dehumanizing us and belittling our faith. Period

 Where
to go from there?

Yes indeed,
where to go from there?

Is there a
way out?

As an
optimist, yes of course there is always a way out:

To begin
with, you must start with opening your hearts and minds to see us as equal
human beings, worthy of life, love, and freedom.

 Remove
your prejudice against us, and with sincere efforts open dialogues with us, not
to tell us what should we do or how should we think, or whom to elect as our
leaders, but to listen to us as your equals in humanity. A dialogue is a two
way system.

It’s also
good to start educating yourselves a bit more about us, not taking your
information from Hollywood but from us and our authentic sources.

 We have
so much to tell you, so much to share, so much good we can offer you and the
world.

And that is
not exaggeration; that is simply the truth. Because we are humans just like
you. We all have so much to offer the world.

May I give
some suggestion towards a solution?

 Why not
end your occupation of our lands?

Why not stop
supporting those puppet regime and dictators your successive governments have
forces upon Arabs for the sake of “Nation Building” which is the most
heinous word one can imagine, and why not continuing by accepting our FREELY
elected representatives, whom we chose through democracy ?

 Why not
visit and even come and live in Muslim countries without your army uniform, and
without offering your bombs and missiles as gifts?

Why not drop
your arms and come to us with open arms rather than coming carrying machine
guns and riding offensive tanks?

Instead of
pushing like crazy towards Armageddon; why not gently, lovingly, tenderly and
with compassion, why not embrace a world of justice, tolerance and respect, as
Jesus “peace be upon him” would’ve done if he was alive today?

 Why not
attentively listen to each other? Why not dream and work for a more peaceful
world built upon diversity and richness of multiplicity, a world where humanity
is celebrated and variety is rejoiced, a world where all are respected, where
all are free to think, to believe, and to live their own way without infringing
on each other, or imposing our ways upon each other?

As of now,
the world already can see that the American dream is a nightmare, your
s-elected and corrupt governments have made your country the most loathed
country, and they have robbed you exactly as they robbed those “Arabs out
there”

If you look
more vigilantly, more attentively, and closer to home, you will find the REAL
terrorist worthy of your alarm and disgust, are the ones amongst your midst,
ruling your country, robbing your resources, thriving on your poverty,
rejoicing your misery.

So why not
transform this mad nightmare and ideologically driven devastation, back into a
dream…. a reality?

Who is there?

Oh
human

Can’t you
see!

I am
precisely like you

I don’t like
being humiliated

I am no one’s
doormat

I’m person in
my own right

When I was
born

I was born
innocent

Happy and
free

 And I
want to live

A normal life

With dignity

Wouldn’t you?

 I
realise there is a dawn

Waiting to be
born

And that…
after hardship… passes away

Ease will
come to life… very soon

 But…
they’ve inflected so much

Pain and
cruelty

Upon this
little girl

And upon her
homeland

The world is
watching

Eyes open
wide

In
bewilderment

And disbelief

“What we are watching

Is a fiction
movie

It’s not
really true”

While in
exile

Puzzled… I
agonize

Wiping tears
off my saddened face

Searching
around

Any one
there?

Looking up…
into sky

Did You hear
my cries?

Did You
witness the crime?

Suddenly

Knock… knock

A gentle tap

 Yes,
coming

Who is there?

Hope is here

Smiling at my
heart

Standing by
my door

Zionists occupiers… Heed my call

Like
most people, I do believe in dialogue and civilized coexistence, like
most people I long to live in dignity and freedom in my homeland, like
most people I yearn for peace and justice for every human, like most
people I like to foster loving and trusting relationships with all
decent individuals; however, our problem with the Zionist occupiers is
not about hate and distrust as they like to believe, it’s not about
security as they constantly declare, nor is it about dialogue or lack of
it thereof!

Our problem with them is not confined to the many
aspects of their occupation, human right abuses, checkpoints, walls,
collective punishment and assassinations.

The origin of our
problem is as profound as a the roots of a fig tree, buried deep and
covered up with piles of dishonesty and deceit, yet its fruits has the
pungent taste of supremacy, arrogance, racism, dehumanization, theft,
and war crimes, and no amount of fig tree leaves could conceal or
beautify.

So, to unearth the core of the problem and spell the
truth-out loud and clear, I am going to direct my words towards the
Zionists of all shades and affiliations.
Furthermore, I am going to
be to honest and blunt here; as the catastrophic situation that they
have created does not stomach glossing over any longer

Zionist occupiers:

I must
warn you; that what I am going to say is not going to be very pleasant,
it will taste as bitter as the chilling years of your occupation, as
cold as the barren roots of our uprooted olive trees, and as sour as the
dry lips of dying babies at your military checkpoints.

My words
will be parched, choking and hard to swallow; it will be as rigid and
impervious as the cement of your apartheid wall

My words will
smell of tear gas and burning flesh of infants while cuddled in their
mothers’ arms after an air raid

My words will be burning hot like
a bullet penetrating the head of a little boy as he picked a stone to
throw at his oppressor

My words will be sizzling with blazing
fire like the one ton bomb dropped from afar at a neighbourhood of
sleeping women and children

My words will be gushing causing
excruciating pain and discomfort because it stems from the depth of my
wounded, distressed and agonised soul that was tormented by your people
for the entirety of my existence.

So
Zionist occupiers heed my words
;

Our problem with you is
not a “conflict” between two warring parties, who are similarly wrong
and equally guilty as you shamelessly often describe… NO… NO… NO

The
problem is one of aggression, oppression, colonization, theft, and
occupation on your side, and one of being oppressed, exploited, and
occupied on our side.

It’s one is of a crime of theft of a whole
country and the ethnic cleansing of a whole nation by your people on the
one hand and a displaced and dominated population on the other

It’s
one of a CRIMINAL THIEF and a DISPOSSESSED VICTIM

To equate the
two is nothing but an act of deception and a manifestation of moral
bankruptcy.

A whole lot of your people came from ALL over the
world, stole our homeland, dispossessed and expelled us, took over our
homes and farms, destroyed our villages and history, occupied our
country, oppressed those who stayed behind, killed and maimed who dared
to demand their rights or attempted to assert their humanity, demonized
and subjugated us to a racist, bigoted and ruthless set of laws that
don’t apply to yourselves; then you come with chilling cold-heartedness
and assert that both parties are equally guilty!!

Which planet
are you living on?
By what principles do you abide?
What ethics do
you follow?

Have you ever questioned the morality of your
actions as multinationals who gave themselves the liberty to come to our
homeland -which I am denied the right to live in- take it over by
violence and bloodshed, then settle there on the ruins of the villages
you’ve annihilated, dwelling in the homes of some dispossessed
Palestinians, for no other justifications than the dominance of your
Jewishness and the fact that we are not Jews?

Does that not smell
of rotten racism, arrogance and supremacy to your clogged-up
conscience?

The only crime that our people committed is that they
existed on the land of their ancestors which you proclaimed as a God
given-right to Jews only.

Your people have destroyed our culture,
denied our existence as human beings, treated us for four generation
with sheer cruelty, ruthlessness and contempt, and subjugated us to
inconceivable savagery and humiliation, and denied us even the right to
defend ourselves on our stolen Palestine under the pretext of
“terrorism”

On top of all that your people have lied and lied,
until they believed their own lies, you managed to brainwash yourselves
with packs of cover-ups and masks of reality until truth became so blur
and obscured, so much so that most of your people refuse even to
acknowledge their own crimes of theft of a whole country and disposition
of a whole nation

You stole the land of our ancestors and
forefathers under the claim that some few thousands years back in
history, some people who followed your religion have lived there, and
apparently secured a contract with God affirming the eternal ownership
of this land

How dare you give yourselves these abhorrent
privileges of taking over someone’s home and homeland just because you
belong to a particular faith?

What does an American Jew, a
Russian Jew, an African Jew, a Japanese Jew, an Indian Jew or a German
Jew has anything to do with the Land of Palestine?

If you think
we are some kind of brainless retarded human beings who lack your
“intelligence”, “emotions” and “morality” and who would just disregard
what happened to them sixty years ago, and who would be happy to live as
your inferiors in their own homeland; you better think again

We
are sick and tired of witnessing your crimes for decades on end
We
are sick and tired of your deception, false claims and the pretence of
innocence and victim-hood
We are sick and tired of your orchestrated
peace processes and leading-no-where road-maps

What is needed at
this stage is not dialogue and reconciliation, what is most urgently
needed is to STOP ALL your incessant ugly racism, supremacy, aggression
and assault, to put a halt to your crimes, and to take a serious look in
the mirror as a whole “population” and see what monsters have you
become!

You need to address within your immoral and utterly sick
society the obscene injustices you’ve inflected upon us
You need to
deal with the hideous, corrupt, aggressive, militarized and wicked
society that you have become

Before worrying about hate and
distrust that engulfs you, you aught to be worrying about the crimes of
your people and the injustices they have committed -and still
committing- and how to facilitate for justice to run its course, and how
to restore back the rights of millions that you have violated.

That
requires an inner reflection of you as a whole people, it requires an
honest and sincere look within yourselves, serious questioning of the
“history” that you were taught, a bursting of the bubble that you are
living in, it requires that you stop all your acts of aggression, theft
of land, humiliation, murder, and destruction of our community, and
above all, it requires that you step down from the high ground that you
placed yourselves on, and be prepared to GIVE UP ALL the privileges that
you have bestowed upon yourselves by the “virtue” of your Jewishness!

It
also requires restoring our rights back including the right of return
of all refugees, AND the compensation to ALL those who suffered from
your Frankenstein creation of the racist Zionist entity.

To those
blood-soaked criminals who come frothing with fake words of peace but
get incensed and infuriated when they hear the word justice, I would
say:

Masters of lies and
dishonesty

I would like to see you talking to the Nazis
who abused you without asking them to acknowledge their crimes

I
would like to see how you respond to those who deny the holocaust

I
would like to see you turning a blind eye to Hitler’s crimes and moving
forward without asking for justice or compensation

Masters of terror and deceit

How
do you want us to move on with out YOU acknowledging your crimes of
theft, ethnic cleansing and genocide, yet you demand that the whole
world acknowledges the crimes of Hitler against you?

Masters of arrogance and conceit

How
could you deny our Catastrophe and your responsibility for it, yet
insist and make sure that anyone who even doubts (let alone denies) the
holocaust or the number six millions has to pay severely by imprisonment
and loss of livelihood and even life?

Masters of mischief and evil doing

God
had sent you many warnings; that you do not transgress or do mischief
in the land, but your arrogance, self interest, greed and supremacy are
blinding you from seeing the evil you are doing

Instead of
acknowledging your crimes and establishing justice, you are still in a
state of total denial, carried away with more crimes, more lies, and
suppression of truth

Instead of repentance and accepting that you
have wronged us, you try to silence our faint voices causing more
deception, concealing the truth and sinking deeply in the abyss of
immorality and wickedness

Your Jewishness, your self
interest, your love of material gains and you drunkenness by power is
what you worship now not the God of goodness, peace and justice

My
warning to you now is the same warning given to your ancestors by many
prophets and prophetic voices:

You are descending deeper in the
hole that you dug for yourselves by your evil deeds, your denial of
truth, and by your inability to ask for forgiveness

The crimes
that you have committed against us are indeed painful and agonizing, but
it’s only done against our physical bodies, our souls are out of your
reach and forever intact; however, it’s your own souls that you are
disfiguring and destroying, if only you knew

Unfortunate, pitiable and deceived souls

You
have lost your humanity and killed your own souls if only you could see

Unless
and until you acknowledge your crimes and correct the wrongs you have
committed there will be a dark bleak and desolate future awaiting for
you

And this is not a threat; it is a promise

Mischief makers

They cry
peace, but what they mean is war; they scream freedom but what they mean
is enslavement; they shout democracy but what they mean is democracy
for their own kind.

The Quran describes such people whose words
contradict their deeds:

“And when it is said unto them: Make not
mischief in the earth, they say: We are peacemakers only. Are not they
indeed the mischief-makers? But they perceive not. (2:11-12)”

WARNING

“And We gave (Clear)
Warning to the Children of Israel in the Scripture, that twice would
they do mischief on the earth and will become tyrants and behave
insolently with extreme arrogance.” (17:4)

“When the first of the
warnings came to pass, We sent against you Our servants of mighty
prowess: They entered the very inmost parts of your homes; and it was a
warning (completely) fulfilled.” (17:5)

“Afterwards, we will give
you a turn over them, and will grant you an increase of wealth and
children; we will give you the upper hand.” (17:6)

If you do good, it will be for your own
benefit
, but if you do evil, it
will be against your souls.
When the prophecy of your second
transgression will come to pass, sadness will cover your faces. They
(your enemies) will enter the mosque as they did the first time, they
will wipe out all the gains you had accomplished.” (17:7)

“It may
be that your Lord will have mercy on you, but if you revert to
transgression, we will counter with retribution. We have designated hell
as a final abode for those who conceal the truth.” (17:8)

The
ONLY thing that could save you -arrogant zionists- from a bleak and
painful future is to reverse your evil ways of oppression, arrogance and
greed, and join the civilized world and behave like normal human beings
with justice and compassion

But
mischief makers perceive not

Hypocrites

Hypocrites

This open letter is an enumeration of guidelines toward a possible PEACE, it is destined to BLIND supporters of ZIONISM who blather "peace" while live in a state of denial

Those who attempt to beautify the ugly fascist racist face of zionism, who apply themselves as a dripping lipstick on the lips of a pig in a futile attempt to revamp its gruesome features

Those who delude themselves that if they use their lovey-dovey words they could disguise the true vile nature, the wicked chauvinistic ideology and incessant crimes of the monster of zion

Those who feel no shame in defending a disgraceful entity which happened to be established by terror and maintained by terror and continue to exist by terrorising those under its control

Those who act as a pathetic frayed fig leaf trying to conceal the obscenity and hideous disgrace of their state which was audaciously built upon the destruction of another nation

Those who ludicrously still marvel at and admire the naked emperor’s clothes when everyone in the world could see his pitiful nudity

Those who utter their disingenuous wishes to coexist in peace while choosing to live in a state of denial with their heads in the sand by refusing to acknowledge or remedy their injustices and wrong-doings

Those who refuse to listen to the voice of reason and the call of justice, and muffle each and every whisper that asks for it

Those who silence any call for GENUINE and TOTAL reconciliation and block every REAL endeavour that gives an honest diagnosis and point out to the genuine healing process which would lead to reconciliation

Those who attempt to deceive the world by accusing every defiant and decent individual who insists upon full restoration of rights, dignity and humanity of Palestinians, by accusing him/ her of extremism, fanaticism or support of terrorism

Those who endeavour to cover the rays of truth with a sieve of lies

Neither do I desire to waste my breath on, nor do I have the interest to talk to

They are worthy only of their karma

Collaborators of crime, who want to escape responsibility, keep the status quo, and dismiss the due rights of their prey under the disguise of nonsensical words like:

"New israel wants peace"

“We must accept facts on the ground”

“We must not go back in time”

“We must look forward to the future”

What future, you hypocrites?

What good is a future built upon denied massacres and genocide?

What good is a future built upon incessant theft and lies?

What good is a future, in which the criminals would neither acknowledge their wrong doings nor have the desire to remedy the wounds of their injured victims

What is the meaning of words when actions counteract?

Have they never came across the saying “Actions speaks louder than words”?

Over the past sixty years you’ve had your say and you did what you chose to do,

And now,

Well, guess what?

It’s time for us to speak and for YOU to LISTEN to us and HEAR our say:

you are not welcome in our stolen land of Palestine with your existing mentality

Before we accept you and welcome you as guests and as our brothers and sisters in our land that you have stolen:

Go

Repent

Wash the blood off your hands

And weep

Weep the souls of the little ones you’ve murdered

Weep the innocent villages you’ve destroyed

Weep the blessed olive trees you’ve uprooted

Weep the tears of little girls you’ve orphaned

Weep the mutilated bodies of small boys you’ve devastated

Weep the tens of thousands of youth you’ve disabled

Weep the tens of thousands of homes you demolished

Weep the millions of aching hearts of refugees you’ve created

Weep the soil of the Holy Land you’ve polluted

Weep the stream waters and ancient wells you’ve poisoned

Weep the hundreds of thousands of bodies you’ve tortured

Weep the hills and orchards you’ve disfigured

Weep the alleyways you’ve dissected

Weep the landscape you’ve cut to pieces

Weep the towns you’ve bombed to oblivion

Weep the dignified women you’ve dishonoured

Weep the enduring elderly you’ve humiliated

Weep the infants you prevented from getting to hospitals

Weep the laughter and giggles of tiny ones you’ve muted

Weep the scents of herbs and blossoms you’ve suffocated

Weep the farms you’ve destroyed and confiscated

Weep the culture of embroidery, humus and falafel you’ve robbed and claimed

Weep the prophets’ messages you’ve abused and defiled

Weep the Divine Guidance you’ve corrupted

Weep the Ten Commandments you’ve violated

And when you weep long enough, hard enough and sincerely enough, you will discover that you don’t need to come to us begging us to talk to you or to forgive you, you won’t need to go around the web scattering, boasting and blathering about peace

Because if and when your repentance is genuine it will automatically show in your actions

You will know then what you have to do and how to do it, to be forgiven

And then and only then, you WILL find “peace” that you allegedly seek

We pass the keys of our occupied homes to our children, generation after generation, until the day of our RETURN

With each day that passes by, our exile decreases by one day, and our return becomes a day closer

==================================================================

The following letter was presented to President Mahmoud Abbas’s office on behalf of 78 Palestinian organizations on Wednesday September 22, 2008. Note that ALL Palestinian political factions have signed on as well.

This is a clear message that every zionist should bear in mind before feeling jubilant that they could achieve peace without OUR RIGHT OF RETURN being FULLY implemented

It’s also a clear message to those principled and moral Jewish people who reside in Occupied Palestine now and who sincerely seek peace and justice, it’s a message that they should not ignore, but rather embrace and take very seriously indeed if they truly hope for a better future for all

Please distribute widely.

Open Letter to President Mahmoud Abbas

To: President Mahmoud Abbas
Chair of the Palestine Liberation Organization Executive Committee
President of the Palestinian National Authority

Re: The Rights of Palestinian Refugees and the Final Status Negotiations

Dear Mr. President,

Greetings of Return

We, the undersigned Palestinian refugee organizations, civil society movements and institutions in the Palestinian homeland and in exile are national organizations working to defend the right of return. We appeal to you now because we are convinced that the alignment of the official Palestinian position and the position of the Palestinian people with regards to the final status negotiation issues is of the highest priority. Foremost among these issues is the cause of the Palestinian refugees.

We are convinced that the alignment of popular and official positions is the main guarantee of a strong Palestinian position in the current negotiation process, which is taking place in a local, regional and global context that jeopardizes the national rights of the Palestinian people. In this context, we are concerned in particular about the rights of Palestinian refugees and internally displaced persons to return to their original lands and properties, restitution of their homes, lands and properties and compensation for damages incurred over the past 60 years. Based on the fact that all of these rights are guaranteed under international law, and based on our awareness of the enormous pressures faced by Palestinian negotiators and the tactics of negotiations, such as secrecy with regards to the negotiation proceedings, we call upon you to adopt a negotiation strategy that is based on openness with the entirety of the Palestinian people – irrespective of their current place of residence – regarding all aspects and details of the negotiation process. Implementation of the Palestinian refugees’ right of return was and continues to be the main purpose for which the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was established, a purpose which forms the central pillar of the PLO’s legitimacy as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people. Transparency and candidness of our representatives with all sectors of our society will guarantee that our rights are best defended, and strengthen our position in the face of enormous pressures.

It has been clear at all stages of the negotiations that this process aims to eliminate the core issue of the Arab/Palestinian struggle for freedom and justice: the Palestinian refugees and their rights of return and restitution. In fact, elimination of these central Palestinian/Arab demands form the center-piece of both Israeli and US policies. It is also no secret that during the so-called “Oslo Peace Process” these policies have employed insidious tactics in order to nullify these rights altogether. Such tactics include attempts to substitute the return and restitution of the refugees with monetary compensation; to reduce the number of those entitled to exercise these rights from over 7 million Palestinian refugees and internally displaced persons to a tiny minority, including so-called “hardship cases” that would be arbitrarily defined by Israel; to suggest that the refugees return to homes located in the areas administered by the Palestinian Authority; and other humiliating “trade offs” whereby Palestinians are expected to surrender the right of refugees to return to homes, lands and properties of origin in exchange for other rights and demands, such as self-determination, borders, the reclamation of Jerusalem and removal of the illegal settlement-colonies. The Palestinian leadership has rejected such degrading bargaining tactics in previous negotiations, notably those known as the second Camp David summit and the Clinton initiative. The late President Yasser Arafat rejected these tactics, and he was made to pay for that with his liberty and his life.

Whereas the rights of return, restitution and compensation are enshrined in international law and specifically affirmed in UN General Assembly Resolution 194 and UN Security Council Resolution 237;

Whereas we see that increasing US pressure aims to force Palestinian negotiators to agree to an obscure framework for a solution that is to be achieved by any means and at the soonest date, and that such a framework is largely for internal US consumption in the context of a US Presidential election;

Whereas it has become clear that the US administration is working on other fronts to market its obscure framework for a solution in the September 2008 session of the UN General Assembly;

Whereas we realize, as a result of our movement’s long and difficult experience with Israeli politics, that Israeli political actors seek to solve the internal Israeli political crisis by venting destruction on the Palestinian front through various policies and practices, all of which work to entrench Israeli occupation, colonialism, and apartheid, and aim to attain international recognition of Israel as a ‘Jewish State;’

Whereas Western and Israeli election platforms must not be employed to put pressure on the Palestinian negotiators, who should in no way be a party to the political maneuvers of US and Israeli political candidates, particularly in order to protect the legality, legitimacy, and sanctity of Palestinian national rights regardless of who emerges victorious in foreign elections;

Whereas we perceive the retreat of the once principled European position, and the transformation of this position into one that conforms to the US policy of total complicity and support for Israel;

Whereas we clearly see the weakness and inability of the Arab countries to take action or play any effective role;

Whereas we witness the sharp, painful and unprecedented deterioration in the internal Palestinian political arena;

Whereas it has become plain and obvious that powerful external pressures aim to annul Palestinian refugee rights, particularly the right to return to their original lands and properties and the restitution of these lands and properties;

Whereas Israel and the US, according to Israeli officials, are intensifying their efforts to reach a framework for a solution that is acceptable to both Israel and the US and will be viable regardless of the ruling party;

Whereas the primary measure of the legitimacy of any solution remains the extent to which it will lead to the exercise of the right of self-determination by the Palestinian people, including foremost the right of Palestinian refugees to choose to return to their original homes and lands regardless of their current place of refuge,

We approach you with this statement based on our strong desire to chart a way forward that is built on the highest levels of clarity and candidness with the Palestinian people; a way forward that aims to strengthen the Palestinian position in this sensitive stage of the Palestinian struggle; a way forward that ensures that any framework for a solution will include the following principles in clear and immutable language :

The rights of Palestinian refugees and internally displaced persons to return, restitution and compensation are fundamental rights under international law and relevant UN resolutions – particularly UN General Assembly Resolution 194 and UN Security Council Resolution 237. The content of these rights is non-negotiable irrespective of the manner in which they will be exercised;
The right of return is an individual right held by every Palestinian refugee and internally displaced person. This right is passed on from one generation to the next, based on the individual’s choice on whether or not to return, an inalienable and indivisible right, and not affected by any bilateral, multilateral, or international treaty or agreement. Any such agreement must respect the fundamental precepts and principles of international law;
The right of Palestinian refugees and internally displaced persons to return is a collective right that is not limited to one group or another, and it is an integral part of the Palestinian right of self-determination;
The right of Palestinian refugees and internally displaced persons to return is not subject to referendum.

May you remain steadfast in our struggle for freedom and dignity

You think you could defeat my will to be?!

You think you could defeat my will to be?!

To those zionists thieves and murderers who rattle on about peace but have deaf ears to the word JUSTICE

They blather about understanding, but are blinded to their crimes of theft, violence and superiority that thwart any hope of reconciliation.

Those who claim that peace can be achieved without stopping their apartheid, human right abuses, supremacy, arrogance, oppression and occupation

Pay attention mouthpieces of Hasbara lies and deceit

WHEN I, along with the seven million Palestinian refugees are allowed to return back home

AND when all the refugees are compensated for all the years of agony in exile

AND when you bring to an end all forms of your aggression, violence, and terror and land theft

AND when you release ALL Palestinian abductees

AND when you give back all the land stolen from us by the might of your guns

AND when you freeze the illegal flood of Jewish colonizers who deluge from all over the world

AND when you dismantle all the illegal colonies

AND when you terminate all your stock of arms and WMS

THEN and ONLY then you could come to talk to us about peace and about the future.

But until then, we reserve the right to resist your oppression and crimes until you -willingly or unwillingly- change your evil ways and stop your terror and theft.

And btw you wouldn’t be doing us a favour if and when you stop your terror, and when and if you give us our land and our rights back

It’s the least you could do to save your disfigured souls

The favour is not to us at all, but rather to your poor scorched souls that you managed to allow it to sink so low in wickedness, corruption and inhumanity by acts of theft, terror and with lies as the icing on the cake to justify your ugly crimes

Despite all the armaments, arsenal and WMD that you have, all of this might you brag about, is absolutely zilch in our eyes; simply because it’s artificial, it’s an outer superficial shell that masks your pathetic, scrawny and shaky reality.

It is not authentic strength

That’s why when I address you, I look through this camouflage, I see only your essence; feeble weak, dependent, spineless who hide behind guns and tanks to conceal your frail entity

Yet on the other hand, we have nothing of the “impressive” weapons that you possess; but we feel much more powerful, even our little ones, and that’s because our strength -that you will never defeat- is genuine, it comes from within

The equation is simple:

you have the MIGHT but we have the RIGHT,

 And

RIGHT is greater than MIGHT

And

The light of truth is more potent than the gloom of falsehood

That’s why we need no hasbara; the truth flows from our hearts to our lips to people’s hearts like a stream; powerful, pure and simple

We have nothing to hide, for our conscience is clear

Nothing to fear, for our inner strength is real

Your threats, aggression and lies are hollow

They mean NOTHING to us

Truth and lies

Lies
like to be groomed

To
be prepared in advance

Artificially
manufactured

Laughable,
not in a funny way

No amount of make-up can hide its ugly
face

No trimming or adding can make it flow in
lucidity

Still-born,
incoherent, pitiable and frail

Unpleasant
to the ear as much to the heart

TRUTH
however, is spontaneous

Honest, eloquent and natural

It has a power of its own

The glory of truth has the qualities of
light

No amount of darkness could kill or
obscure

Delicate, sublime, inspiring and pure

Breathtaking
with its splendour

Like
a waterfall;

It
flows gracefully from the heart

Needs
no training for her to shine

Powerful,
relentless, elegant and beautiful

Alhamdulillah

Do this you
lose….. Do that I win

No fear in
my heart

You could
imprison me!

With that
you ONLY imprison my physical body

My joyful soul
you cannot restrain

Out of your
reach

Forever FREE

Floating in
contentment, tranquillity and peace

Watching
your despondent captive souls

Behind bars
of your aggression and hostility

Walls of
your guilt, fear and insecurity

You could
kill me!

But my
poetry is unassailable

The minds of
many already impregnated with my words

As soon as
you make me a martyr

Those seeds
would be infused with life

Hubs of love

Like rays of
sunshine… warm… tender… invigorating

Giving birth
to a jubilant dawn

Hubs of love

Like summer
rain… pure… cleansing… revitalizing

Gushing
through hearts and minds

Hubs of love

They’d bloom
and multiply

No escape

In my heart dwells the pain of the oppressed

Rivers of their wounds pour down

Drenching the ocean of my sorrow

I am the voice of the voiceless

The howl of little ones as they fade away

My whispers shoot like bullets

In the ears of the wicked

My words explodes

Before his eyes

Muting his lies

He looks away

Pretending not to see

Not to hear

My murmurs pierce his bubble

My tortured shadow follows

No escape

He runs to bed

Covers his head

Sleep might rid him of me

My chopped limps chase his dream

He drowns in my tears

In my blood

Unable to breathe

Unable to cry

No escape

Time passes

…………………

……………………

……………………

 Then he dies

……………………

…………………….

…………………….

Only to be greeted with my smile

He’d hoped he’d never see

As he was chained and dragged away

To meet his deeds

No escape

Wolves in sheep clothing

=============

Iman Hijjo, murdered in her mother’s arms @ 4 months old

  Palestine Pictures 477

Wolves in sheep clothing

Yesterday (19 August 08), I joined the very ominous sinister site “mepeace” using the name Iman (above photo); I posted one link to the film “The Iron Wall” and only 10 pictures!!

Within less than 15 hours I was totally banned, my IP was blocked, and I can’t access the site even to read!

Now, to those blood-soaked criminals who come frothing with fake words of peace but get incensed and infuriated when they hear the word justice, I would say:

Masters of lies and dishonesty

I would like to see you talking to the Nazis who abused you without asking them to acknowledge their crimes

I would like to see how you respond to those who deny the holocaust

I would like to see you turning a blind eye to Hitler’s crimes and moving forward without asking for justice or compensation

Masters of terror and deceit

How do you want us to move on with out YOU acknowledging your crimes of theft, ethnic cleansing and genocide, yet you demand that the whole world acknowledges the crimes of Hitler against you?

Masters of arrogance and conceit

How could you deny our Catastrophe and your responsibility for it, yet insist and make sure that anyone who even doubts (let alone denies) the holocaust or the number six millions has to pay severely by imprisonment and loss of livelihood and even life?

Masters of mischief and evil doing

God had sent you many warnings; that you do not transgress or do mischief in the land, but your arrogance, self interest, greed and supremacy are blinding you from seeing the evil you are doing

Instead of acknowledging your crimes and establishing justice, you are still in a state of total denial, carried away with more crimes, more lies, and suppression of truth

Instead of repentance and accepting that you have wronged us, you try to silence our faint voices causing more deception, concealing the truth and sinking deeply in the abyss of immorality and wickedness

Your Jewishness, your self interest, your love of material gains and you drunkenness by power is what you worship now not the God of goodness, peace and justice

My warning to you now is the same warning given to your ancestors by many prophets and prophetic voices:

You are descending deeper in the hole that you dug for yourselves by your evil deeds, your denial of truth, and by your inability to ask for forgiveness

The crimes that you have committed against us are indeed painful and agonizing, but it’s only done against our physical bodies, our souls are out of your reach and forever intact; however, it’s your own souls that you are disfiguring and destroying, if only you knew

Unfortunate, pitiable and deceived souls

You have lost your humanity and killed your own souls if only you could see

Unless and until you acknowledge your crimes and correct the wrongs you have committed there will be a dark bleak and desolate future awaiting for you

And this is a promise

Mischief makers

They cry peace, but what they mean is war; they scream freedom but what they mean is enslavement; they shout democracy but what they mean is democracy for their own kind.

The Quran describes such people whose words contradict their deeds:

And when it is said unto them: Make not mischief in the earth, they say: We are peacemakers only. Are not they indeed the mischief-makers? But they perceive not. (2:11-12)”

WARNING

“And We gave (Clear) Warning to the Children of Israel in the Scripture, that twice would they do mischief on the earth and will become tyrants and behave insolently with extreme arrogance.” (17:4)

“When the first of the warnings came to pass, We sent against you Our servants of mighty prowess: They entered the very inmost parts of your homes; and it was a warning (completely) fulfilled.” (17:5)

“Afterwards, we will give you a turn over them, and will grant you an increase of wealth and children; we will give you the upper hand.” (17:6)

If you do good, it will be for your own benefit, but if you do evil, it will be against your souls. When the prophecy of your second transgression will come to pass, sadness will cover your faces. They (your enemies) will enter the mosque as they did the first time, they will wipe out all the gains you had accomplished.” (17:7)

“It may be that your Lord will have mercy on you, but if you revert to transgression, we will counter with retribution. We have designated hell as a final abode for those who conceal the truth.” (17:8)

The ONLY thing that could save you -arrogant zionists- from a bleak and painful future is to reverse your evil ways of oppression, arrogance and greed, and act like civilized human beings, with justice and compassion

But mischief makers perceive not

.

You want a solution ? !! Here it is

You want a solution ? !! Here it is

To the zionist thieves:

If the zionist occupiers truly want peace… peace is nigh

Glamorous writings, pretence of humanity, lengthy debates, polished sentences, and cloak oneself with fake peace lyrics, cannot conceal the SIMPLE REALITY:

The ONLY way to PEACE is through JUCTICE

All they have to do is to GIVE BACK ALL stolen land and property

Palestine should be reunited with her beloved people

Villages should be allowed to rejoice with embracing their treasured farmers who’ve been forced out

You want to have peace, zionist occupiers?

You will get it if and when you:

Give back all stolen land and property

Allow all dispossessed refugees to return home

Stop your people from stealing our land

Stop your people from constructing an apartheid wall

Stop your people from building settlements on stolen land

Stop your people from demolishing our homes

Stop your people from dissecting our land with checkpoints

Stop your people from bombing us

Stop your people from shooting our children

Stop your people from imprisoning our youth and elected leaders

Stop your people from having different laws for different people

Stop your people from suffocating our freedom

Stop your people from turning our towns into concentration camps

Stop your people from causing us more suffering (which never ceased for almost a century)

And Pleeeeeeeeease, stop reiterating this blather that both parties are guilty!!!

We were living peacefully in OUR HOMELAND which the Zionist decided to STEAL and COLONIZE

Under all human and divine laws; we have the right to DEFEND ourselves from those who wanted to STEAL, OCCUPY and COLONIZE our land

YOU and YOUR PEOPLE have NO right to ATTACK us and CLAIM our HOMELAND just because you are Jewish and that God gave you our land!

Reconciliation comes AFTER you and your people GIVE BACK what was STOLEN from us, namely our PALESTINE

GOT that, zionist occupiers?

Read it several times until it sinks in

I reiterate, what is needed is for the THEIF to give up what he has stolen BEFORE any reconciliation begins

You CANNOT steal the land AND keep it then plead innocence, ask for forgiveness and reconciliation WHILE the real owners are starving, in ghettos, languishing in refugee camps; exiled and dispossessed

You and your people MUST GIVE BACK what you have stolen and GIVE UP your privileges that you have bestowed upon yourselves because of your Jewishness, namely the so called “right of return” (Aliyah) to each and every Jew, from each and every race, country and corner of the globe

Your people HAVE STOLEN OUR PALESTINE

A whole country

Your people have ethnically cleansed my people

Your people deny me and my people the right of return to our homes and orchids

My own personal land was confiscated and they built the colony of ramot alon on it!!

Yet, you still have the guts to come pleading innocence, pretending to want peace but offer us scraps of our STOLEN PALESTINE !!!

You stole the land and want us to accept that as a “forever-reality”, and accept YOU as partners of a peaceful future without giving us our rights and land back??

Furthermore, you dare to equate our legitimate self defence, resistance, and struggle for justice and freedom with your crimes of theft, ethnic cleansing and AGGRESSION!!

Our struggle against the occupation is not -as you try to present it- tit for tat hysteria and love of violence; it’s a struggle to gain back what was stolen from us, to gain back our freedom, and our rights

NO … NO… zionist thieves and occupiers

This sick kind of immorality is nauseating

If you truly want peace… you ought to GIVE BACK ALL stolen land and property before asking us to have peace with you

STEALING our Palestine is the biggest robbery in history:

If some homeless steals a house that belongs to someone else, this is theft, and it will always be, no matter how many people or judges vote for it to make it OK, no matter how many petitions or court orders are obtained by the thief in the name of his suffering or poverty.

Theft is theft.

Stolen property that was acquired by force against the wish of the rightful owner could never become lawful, moral or authentic right of the thief.
The stolen home can never become rightly owned by the thief even if he calls it “home”

Palestine was STOLEN unethically and immorally by the Zionists.

When Zionists violently, unethically, and with the use of genocide, war crimes and ethnic cleansing acquired our Palestine, the land was already belonging to someone else.
It was already owned by its native people

When Palestine was divided, Palestinians (the true owners of the land) were never asked!! Their objection was dismissed! And heir wishes were ignored!

So, if the Zionists start calling our stolen homes and land theirs, it will NOT become theirs; simply because it was acquired forcefully, unethically, immorally, and even illegally.

The UN, Europeans, and the world community did not own Palestine, Palestinian did

A third party cannot give away to someone something which belongs to someone else! Even with the vote of the whole of humanity

What is immoral IS immoral

Palestine which was owned by the Palestinians was given away by Europeans to compensate for their crimes against the Jews

Neither the Europeans nor the world community have the right to do so

Palestine was UNETHICALLY acquired by the Zionists through a process of severe injustice: land grab, racist laws, ethnic cleansing, ruthless murder, and genocide

A whole lot of people who came from all over the world attacked us and STOLE our homeland, dispossessed us, oppressed us, and still do so: all in the name of a mythical claim that goes back thousands of years in history

This is by far the biggest robbery human history has ever known!

No amount of polishing or glossing over could change this ugly fact

If your people could acknowledge this grave injustice, and could feel our grievances and pain, and if your people could say: “we love this land and we would like to live in Palestine in peace as humans with equal rights, and responsibilities regardless of our religion or culture and without being superior lawmakers or oppressive thieves” and if they could say that they are prepared to give back what they’ve stolen; then we would welcome them as our brothers and sisters, we would be able to forgive them, and we would have no problem in sharing with them everything we have.

But if your people still insist in dismissing us as human beings, keep oppressing us, stealing more and more of our land, and keep enjoying the privileges that they claimed exclusively for themselves on our expense and continue to build their nation on the ruins of ours; while refusing to give us back what is rightfully ours, and then claim victim-hood, and plea that it’s not practical to go back in time and give the stolen lands and properties back, then the process of reconciliation cannot even begin!

Your people claimed Palestine by going back some 3 thousand years in time, and we are asked not to go back 60 years?!!!

At this point in time, we have NOTHING to offer, zionist thieves, we have lost everything, if anyone would be able to change this grave, vile, despicable, mad and evil situation, it’s your people.

You ought to be working on convincing your people to give back the stolen land of Palestine, and to work for the right of Palestinian refugees to return home

The way forward comes through acknowledging the crimes you’ve committed AND correcting them

The ONLY way to PEACE is through JUCTICE

Got that, zionist occupiers?

I repeat:

If you truly want peace… you ought to GIVE BACK ALL stolen land and property

When that happens, our land could easily absorb good Jewish people who wish to live in peace with us, in Palestine
But no zio-nazi superiority is tolerable:
Free yourselves from the master race mentality
Free yourselves from the arrogance of your might and power
Free yourselves from your paranoid delusions that God gave you this land

What is most urgently needed -to achieve lasting and real peace- is to STOP ALL the zionist incessant ugly racism, supremacy, aggression and assault, to put a halt to your crimes, and to take a serious look in the mirror as a whole “population” and see what monsters have you have become!

You need to address within your immoral and utterly sick society the obscene injustices you’ve inflected upon us
You need to deal with the hideous, corrupt, aggressive, militarized and wicked society you they have become

Before worrying about hate and distrust, you aught to be worrying about the crimes of your people and the injustices they have committed -and still committing- and how to facilitate for justice to run its course, and how to restore back the rights of millions that you have violated.

That requires an inner reflection of you as a whole people, it requires an honest and sincere look within yourselves, serious questioning of the “history” that you were taught, a bursting of the bubble that you are living in, it requires that you stop all your acts of aggression, theft of land, humiliation, murder, and destruction of our community, and above all, it requires that you step down from the high ground that you placed yourselves on, and be prepared to GIVE UP ALL the privileges that you have bestowed upon yourselves by the “virtue” of your Jewishness!

It also requires restoring our rights back including the right of return of all refugees, AND the compensation to ALL those who suffered from your Frankenstein creation of the racist Zionist entity.

Then and only then peace is possible

If you make a start by:

0) Stop all form of your terror

1) Stop the outrageous laws of Aliyah which allows any Jew to colonize Palestine for his/her Jewishness

2) Correct the wrongs you have committed by giving us our homes and land back

3) Address the racism in your monster creation, and restore our rights as human beings back, the right to live peacefully and move freely with dignity without humiliation and oppression, and with our humanity respected as your equals not your inferiors

4) Give all our refugees the right to return to their villages and towns

Then and only then; we can say: “we will forgive you”.

We will NOT say as your people do; “never forget, never forgive”

We will forgive you.

But wasting time by coming in here or creating myriad chat rooms in fake pretence of searching for peace, in an attempt to beautify a supremely ugly face of theft and occupation, and to conceal hideous crimes of ethnic cleansing and genocide, without being ready to STOP your CRIMES or GIVE UP what YOU have STOLEN is FUTILE

In simple words:

GIVE JUSTICE & GET PEACE

Now which part of that sentence you don’t understand, zionist thieves?

Nothing left to say!

.

Zionists occupiers… Heed my call

Hard talk

Zionists occupiers… Heed my call

Like most people, I do believe in dialogue and civilized coexistence, like most people I long to live in dignity and freedom in my homeland, like most people I yearn for peace and justice for every human, like most people I like to foster loving and trusting relationships with all decent individuals; however, our problem with the Zionist occupiers is not about hate and distrust as they like to believe, it’s not about security as they constantly declare, nor is it about dialogue or lack of it thereof!

Our problem with them is not confined to the many aspects of their occupation, human right abuses, checkpoints, walls, collective punishment and assassinations.

The origin of our problem is as profound as a the roots of a fig tree, buried deep and covered up with piles of dishonesty and deceit, yet its fruits has the pungent taste of supremacy, arrogance, racism, dehumanization, theft, and war crimes, and no amount of fig tree leaves could conceal or beautify.

So, to unearth the core of the problem and spell the truth-out loud and clear, I am going to direct my words towards the Zionists of all shades and affiliations.

Furthermore, I am going to be to honest and blunt here; as the catastrophic situation that they have created does not stomach glossing over any longer

Zionist occupiers:

I must warn you; that what I am going to say is not going to be very pleasant, it will taste as bitter as the chilling years of your occupation, as cold as the barren roots of our uprooted olive trees, and as sour as the dry lips of dying babies at your military checkpoints.

My words will be parched, choking and hard to swallow; it will be as rigid and impervious as the cement of your apartheid wall

My words will smell of tear gas and burning flesh of infants while cuddled in their mothers’ arms after an air raid

My words will be burning hot like a bullet penetrating the head of a little boy as he picked a stone to throw at his oppressor

My words will be sizzling with blazing fire like the one ton bomb dropped from afar at a neighbourhood of sleeping women and children

My words will be gushing causing excruciating pain and discomfort because it stems from the depth of my wounded, distressed and agonised soul that was tormented by your people for the entirety of my existence.

So Zionist occupiers heed my words;

Our problem with you is not a “conflict” between two warring parties, who are similarly wrong and equally guilty as you shamelessly often describe… NO… NO… NO

The problem is one of aggression, oppression, colonization, theft, and occupation on your side, and one of being oppressed, exploited, and occupied on our side.

It’s one is of a crime of theft of a whole country and the ethnic cleansing of a whole nation by your people on the one hand and a displaced and dominated population on the other

It’s one of a CRIMINAL THIEF and a DISPOSSESSED VICTIM

To equate the two is nothing but an act of deception and a manifestation of moral bankruptcy.

A whole lot of your people came from ALL over the world, stole our homeland, dispossessed and expelled us, took over our homes and farms, destroyed our villages and history, occupied our country, oppressed those who stayed behind, killed and maimed who dared to demand their rights or attempted to assert their humanity, demonized and subjugated us to a racist, bigoted and ruthless set of laws that don’t apply to yourselves; then you come with chilling cold-heartedness and assert that both parties are equally guilty!!

Which planet are you living on?

By what principles do you abide?

What ethics do you follow?

Have you ever questioned the morality of your actions as multinationals who gave themselves the liberty to come to our homeland -which I am denied the right to live in- take it over by violence and bloodshed, then settle there on the ruins of the villages you’ve annihilated, dwelling in the homes of some dispossessed Palestinians, for no other justifications than the dominance of your Jewishness and the fact that we are not Jews?

Does that not smell of rotten racism, arrogance and supremacy to your clogged-up conscience?

The only crime that our people committed is that they existed on the land of their ancestors which you proclaimed as a God given-right to Jews only.

Your people have destroyed our culture, denied our existence as human beings, treated us for four generation with sheer cruelty, ruthlessness and contempt, and subjugated us to inconceivable savagery and humiliation, and denied us even the right to defend ourselves on our stolen Palestine under the pretext of “terrorism”

On top of all that your people have lied and lied, until they believed their own lies, you managed to brainwash yourselves with packs of cover-ups and masks of reality until truth became so blur and obscured, so much so that most of your people refuse even to acknowledge their own crimes of theft of a whole country and disposition of a whole nation

You stole the land of our ancestors and forefathers under the claim that some few thousands years back in history, some people who followed your religion have lived there, and apparently secured a contract with God affirming the eternal ownership of this land

How dare you give yourselves these abhorrent privileges of taking over someone’s home and homeland just because you belong to a particular faith?

What does an American Jew, a Russian Jew, an African Jew, a Japanese Jew, an Indian Jew or a German Jew has anything to do with the Land of Palestine?

If you think we are some kind of brainless retarded human beings who lack your “intelligence”, “emotions” and “morality” and who would just disregard  what happened to them sixty years ago, and who would be happy to live as your inferiors in their own homeland; you better think again

We are sick and tired of witnessing your crimes for decades on end

We are sick and tired of your deception, false claims and the pretence of innocence and victim-hood

We are sick and tired of your orchestrated peace processes and leading-no-where road-maps

What is needed at this stage is not dialogue and reconciliation, what is most urgently needed is to STOP ALL your incessant ugly racism, supremacy, aggression and assault, to put a halt to your crimes, and to take a serious look in the mirror as a whole “population” and see what monsters have you become!

You need to address within your immoral and utterly sick society the obscene injustices you’ve inflected upon us

You need to deal with the hideous, corrupt, aggressive, militarized and wicked society that you have become

Then and only then dialogue is possible

Zionists thieves

You don’t have many choices really, it’s one of two:

1) you either carry on with your crimes: lying, killing, stealing, abusing and oppressing an entire people, isolating themselves further, and sinking deeply into the abyss of immorality; then frantically searching for peace and security, which you will never be able to find as oppressors, aggressors and occupiers.

2) Or you take a good look in the mirror and see what monsters you have become, and admit the crimes they committed against innocent people who had nothing to do with the anti-Semitic crimes of Europe, but they have been made to pay the price of those crimes.

If you go for the first choice, you should blame no one but yourselves for a bleak, desolate, dire, and awful future that awaits you, a future in which you can no longer afford to keep living in constant fear and endless wars, a future where it’s only enough for you to lose ONE single war, and it will be over then.

We can afford to lose many wars; there are millions and millions of Arabs and Muslims that surround the criminal Zionist entity. And you can’t afford to lose any war, but when you do (it’s inevitable) you lose everything.

Now, if you open their heart and mind to the second option; which is acknowledging the wrongs you’ve committed against us, and recognizing that you’ve been unfair and unjust by stealing our country and denying us our natural human rights.

Then if you start by trying to address and correct those wrongs, and giving us our rights back, the right to live peacefully and move freely with dignity without humiliation and oppression, and with our humanity respected as your equals not your inferiors, and if you give all our refugees the right to return to their villages and towns; then and only then; we’ll be able to say to you: “we will forgive you”.

We will NOT say as some do; “never forget, never forgive”

We will forgive you.
but not before you right the wrongs you’ve committed

We have a culture that has hospitality and forgiveness at its heart.

you either make friends with your neighbours, and give them their due rights to get peace and security, or continue to create enemies by your incessant oppression until the inevitable falls upon you

The choice is yours

letter to the American people

A letter from the heart to the American people

who support the war

Dear friends

I am writing this letter to you because of the destruction that is caused by your government in our lands, and because of the immanent threat to world peace that I see your government pushing for.

The way things are moving now, I foresee great danger, and terrible risk to peace and security to the whole world.

I am writing to you because I care very much about humanity and I love our planet, with all its inhabitants.

I am writing to you because I believe in civilised dialogues, where people can express themselves freely, without being patronized or ridiculed for their beliefs.

I am writing to you to build bridges not walls, and to take you on a short journey so you may see things from our perspective.

I am writing to you for the purpose of advancing more humanistic understanding and for trying together to achieve a more tolerant and peaceful world.

I see systematic efforts by some in your media who work tirelessly, in order to dehumanize Muslims and their faith, and I see that as pre-emptive attempts to justify what is to come of more attacks aiming at our destruction.

When a group of people (Muslims in this case) are seen as intrinsically evil, and when their faith and beliefs are portrayed as violent, malicious, and aggressive, anything done to those people is justified then.

Without talking to one another, and without trying sincerely to put extra effort to understand the other, we will all be losers, and we’ll be driving our beautiful world towards catastrophe and devastation… and that breaks my heart, as a mother, and as a human being.

Now, is it that hard to try to open our hearts and our minds and listen to what the other has to say?

Can’t we learn something from little children? Where prejudice and bigotry are non-existence?

Words in your media are created and manipulated to imply deceptive meanings, so you are kept in a state of constant fear watching over your shoulders in panic and anticipation awaiting this ugly monster to destroy you!

Islam is terror

Jihad is holy war

Fatwa is death penalty

Muslim women are the manifestation of oppression, uneducated, forced into wearing the veil, and enslaved by their men.

Muslim men are fanatics, cruel, sadistic wife beaters

Muslim children are terrorists in the making

Any person committing a crime is called criminal, his faith has nothing to do with his criminal activities, a Muslim criminal committing a crime is a Muslim terrorist, and he committed the crime because he is a Muslim and his faith teaches evil!

When in reality the facts from our perspective are:

Islam is peace: the root of the word Islam is Salam, which is one of the Holy Names of God.  Salam is Arabic for Peace. The meaning of the word Islam is beautiful as Islam is Arabic for bring into Peace.

The word Salam is used for greeting others. Saying "as’Salam alaikum" to someone means "Peace be upon you!"

When a Muslim greets another person with "Peace be upon you," the greeter is in fact proclaiming a contract of Peace with the other person. Hence, if the greeter has non-peaceful intentions towards the other person, he would be engaging in hypocrisy, which is one of the Major Sins in Islam!

“When a (courteous) greeting is offered you, meet it with a greeting still more courteous, or (at least) of equal courtesy. God takes careful account of all things” Quran (4:86)

Jihad is the endeavour to do your best to make this world a better one:

The highest form of Jihad is the inner Jihad, which is the Major Jihad that means the never ending inner struggle against one’s arrogance, greed, and selfishness in order to achieve the Generous Temperaments.

Any effort to help achieve that is called jihad, or struggle, going to school to learn is a form of jihad, being a mother rearing children is jihad, spreading knowledge through teaching or writing is jihad, treating patients is jihad, looking after sick parents is jihad, also defending yourself when attacked is jihad, and struggling against oppression is jihad.
The concept of holy war does not exist in Islam; it is a European  concept from the days of the crusaders, and has absolutely no equivalent in Islam.

When translated "Holy War" is "Harb Muqaddassah" which is an unheard of, words and concept!
How misleading and dishonest is the translation of jihad as a holy war then!

Prophet Muhammad, Peace be upon him, declared "Verily I was sent to this World to define (and live by) the Generous Temperament."

According to him, the codes of Generous Temperament (makarem elakhlaq) are seven:

“Pardoning those who have oppressed you

Giving to those who have deprived you

Connecting with those who have shunned you

Benefiting those who have abused you

Counselling those who have deceived you

Forgiving those who have maligned you

Forbearing with those who have angered you.”

Fatwa is nothing but an expression of an opinion by an informed person:

Being what it is, it is not for any one to enforce their “fatwa” / opinion upon anyone.

There is no hierarchy system, no priesthood, no church institution, and no clergy in Islam; and that is something totally misunderstood, and rarely ever mentioned.

Any Muslim is entitled to make his/ her opinion from their understanding of the Quranic text.

Now, if those opinions are expressed by some knowledgeable person, they are called “fatwa”.

All this falsification, distortion, and misrepresentation of Islam (deliberate or not) if not addressed and sorted out urgently, logically and with open-mindedness and compassion, then our world is doomed!

Being a Muslim woman and knowing exactly what Islam teaches, I feel dismayed and heartbroken at the image that you are made to believe as a true representation of us and of our faith

Now, if I come to you and say: “well, no in fact Islam teach this or does not teach that” would you take my word for it?

Of course not, so, I “quote” some of the specific teachings in order to reflect-precisely- the position of Islam, from the most authentic source to Muslims: the Quran.

Democracy and Freedom of choice:

“No compulsion in religion or ideology” (2:256).

“Say: O you that reject Faith!  I worship not that which you worship, and you do not worship that which I worship... To you be your Way, and to me mine”. (109:1-6)

“We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will)”. (76:3)

“Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain felicity”. (3:104)

"And their affairs are (conducted) through consultation among themselves." (42:38)

“If any one does a righteous deed, it ensures to the benefit of his own soul; if he does evil, it works against (his own soul). In the end will you (all) be brought back to your Lord”. (45; 15)

Relations with others:

‘O mankind! We created you from a single soul, male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may come to know one another. Truly, the most honoured of you in God’s sight is the greatest of you in righteousness. God is All-Knowing, All-Aware’. (49.13)

“(All) people are a single nation.” (II:213)

“And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colours: verily in that are Signs for those who know”.(30-22)

Women’s’ issues

Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him will We give a new Life, a life that is good and pure and We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions”. (16-97)

“The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise regular charity, and obey God and His Messenger. On them will God pour His mercy: for God is Exalted in power, Wise”. (9:71)

If any do deeds of righteousness, be they male or female – and have faith, they will enter Heaven, and not the least injustice will be done to them”. (3-124)

“Then shall anyone who has done an atom’s weight of good, see it! And anyone who has done an atom’s weight of evil, shall see it”. (99:7-8)

“It is He who created you from a single soul, and made its mate of like nature, in order that he might dwell with her (in love)”. (7:189)

“And among His Signs is this: He created for you mates from among yourselves that ye may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He plants love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect. 30-21

“For Muslim men and women, for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for truthful men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in Charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in God’s praise; for them has God prepared forgiveness and great reward”. (33:35)

War and peace:

 The general rule is:

Fighting is only allowed in case of self-defence, against Aggression (odwan) or Persecution (fitnah).

‘You may fight in the cause of God against those who fight you, but do not initiate aggression. God does not love transgressors.’ (2.190)

"O believers, be you guardians of justice, witness for God. Let not a group’s hostility to you cause you to deviate from justice; be equitable – that is nearer to being God-conscious." (5:8)

“To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight back), because they are wronged; and verily, God is most powerful for their aid; (They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,-(for no cause) except that they say, our Lord is God”. (22:39-40)

“God commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and antagonism: He advices you, that ye may be reminded.” (16-90)

"No soul shall be made to bear the burden (liability) of another." (35:18)

But show them forgiveness, and say "Peace!" and soon shall they know!” (43; 89)

“The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from God; for (God) loveth not those who are wrong-doers”. (42:40)

‘If they seek peace, then seek you peace. And trust in God for He is the One that heareth and knoweth all things.’ (8.61)

“But God does call to the Home of Peace” (10-25)

“Ye who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to God, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for God can best protect both. Follow not the desires (of your hearts), lest ye swerve, and if ye distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily God is well-acquainted with all that ye do. Thus, have We made of you a nation justly balanced, that ye might be witnesses over the nations, and the Messenger a witness over yourselves” (2-143)

“Show forgiveness, speak for justice and avoid the ignorant.” (7:199)

“It may well be that God will bring about love (and friendship) between you and those with whom you are now at odds.” (60:7)

“Nor can goodness and evil be equal. Repel evil with what is best: if you do so, he who is your enemy will become a close friend.” (41.34)

**********************

I am only a mother, and I am also a person who detests violence, war, weapons, killings…etc

I am sick to death with war and violence

And I wish what I have seen and what my people had seen on nobody.

Centuries of imperialism, and illiteracy followed by the brutal uprooting of a whole nation from their homeland in order to give it away to people from other parts of the world just because of their Jewishness, and to free the European’s mind of the guilt of the holocaust (which we –Muslims and Palestinians- had nothing to do with, but ended up having to pay the price for Europe’s crimes)

Year after year of injustice towards the Palestinians, accompanied by unequivocal support from USA and Europe to the Zionist entity, led the Muslims to resent the hypocritical policies of the Western world.

This blind support of the Zionists was/ is perceived by Muslims as an act of aggression and grave injustice.

Yet those fundamental basic facts are not represented to you, what you led to believe is that Muslims hate your freedom, your democracy, they are jealous of your way of life, and they hate peace… what a load of nonsense!!!

Muslims feel oppressed and persecuted by YOUR governments

They feel that justice had been denied to them, and that they have been constantly under attack.

Exposed to so much injustice and oppression can seriously affect your psychological state of mind and your level-headedness, which is precisely the case in many Muslim countries nowadays.

And instead of trying to right the wrongs you’ve done over decades of oppression and injustice, what do you do?

You go yet again and attack more Muslim countries; you bomb Afghanistan and Iraq reducing them to rubble!

You kill over a million more!

And what is more ridiculous is that you are doing so whilst claiming that you’re doing it for the sake of liberating us from our ignorance, and our fanatics…

What are you thinking? Do you think we are idiots?

We are sick to death with your interference in our lands, and our countries

We are sick to death with your feelings of supremacy and your attitude of superiority towards us and the rest of the world.

We are sick to death of you trying to impose on us your ways, your thinking, your problems and your solutions.

Imperialism has no room in the future of our world, and most certainly, that must include thought imperialism.

WE WANT TO BE FREE

We want to be free in our homelands

We want to be able to exercise our rights to choose our representatives and our governments

We want our human rights that enable live peacefully and with dignity with no threat of bombing or ethnic cleansing

We want our right to go home and not to live forever as refugees

We want our right to believe in God or not to believe if we so wish to

We want our right to be equal human beings with equal value to our lives

We want to be free to solve the ills of our societies in our own ways not by copy-pasting your experiences and your solutions.

It’s not good enough to try to justify the horrors that you’ve inflected and still inflecting upon us, by dehumanizing us and belittling our faith. Period

 Where to go from there?

Yes indeed, where to go from there?

Is there a way out?

As an optimist, yes of course there is always a way out:

To begin with, you must start with opening your hearts and minds to see us as equal human beings, worthy of life, love, and freedom.

Remove your prejudice against us, and with sincere efforts open dialogues with us, not to tell us what should we do or how should we think, or whom to elect as our leaders, but to listen to us as your equals in humanity. A dialogue is a two way system.

It’s also good to start educating yourselves a bit more about us, not taking your information from Hollywood but from us and our authentic sources.

We have so much to tell you, so much to share, so much good we can offer you and the world.

And that is not exaggeration; that is simply the truth. Because we are humans just like you. We all have so much to offer the world.

May I give some suggestion towards a solution?

Why not end your occupation of our lands?

Why not stop supporting those dictators of our leaders, and respect our representatives whom we chose through democracy?

Why not visit and even come and live in Muslim countries without your army uniform, and without offering your bombs and missiles as gifts?

Why not come to us walking with open arms rather than coming carrying machine guns and riding offensive tanks?

Instead of pushing like crazy towards Armageddon; why not gently, lovingly, tenderly and with compassion, why not embrace a world of justice, tolerance and respect?

Why not attentively listen to each other? Why not dream and work for a more peaceful world built upon diversity and richness of multiplicity, a world where humanity is celebrated and variety is rejoiced, a world where all are respected, where all are free to think, to believe, and to live their own way without infringing on each other, or imposing our ways upon each other?

Why not make this dream a reality?

Who is there?

 Oh human

Can’t you see!

I am precisely like you

I don’t like being humiliated

I am no one’s doormat

I’m person in my own right

When I was born

I was born innocent

Happy and free

 And I want to live

A normal life

With dignity

Wouldn’t you?

I realise there is a dawn

Waiting to be born

And that… after hardship… passes away

Ease will come to life… very soon

 But… they’ve inflected so much

Pain and cruelty

Upon this little girl

And upon her homeland

The world is watching

Eyes open wide

In bewilderment

And disbelief

“What we are watching

Is a fiction movie

It’s not really true”

While in exile

Puzzled… I agonize

Wiping tears off my saddened face

Searching around

Any one there?

Looking up… into sky

Did You hear my cries?

Did You witness the crime?

Suddenly

Knock… knock

A gentle tap

 Yes, coming

Who is there?

Hope is here

Smiling at my heart

Standing by my door

letter to my Jewish friends

A letter –from the heart- to my Jewish friends

People talk with liberty about Muslim extremists, and Christian fundamentalists; but they stop short of uttering the forbidden word “Jewish extremists”    We as people who desire justice, and long for peace; and we as human race can never achieve equality without applying the same criteria and standards for ALL ; and that should also include any other ideology, not only religious one, but also we must acknowledge that there are secular extremists, and atheists fundamentalists, Marxist extremists… etc. The other important point that should be recognized is the way the holocaust was "hijacked" by the Zionists, and became almost like an exclusive Jewish property, which we all know is not a true presentation of history or the truth of WW2.

Not only that it became exclusively Jewish , but there is an aura of holiness and sacredness that surrounds the whole subject, and shrouded it with reverence.

This can lead to some serious problematic issues; as it might appear to a non-Jewish observer as favouritism: “Jewish people get a special treatment, as they insist on demanding that the world must acknowledge their suffering as being unique, sacred, and special".

All humanity had suffered through history, recent, past, and ancient times.

No one could claim that the suffering of one group is more special, unique, or sacred than the suffering of others.

If Jewish people keep insisting that the world must see their suffering as "special", "unique" and "above the suffering of all others", It can only confirm the views of some people who perceive the Jewish people view themselves as "special", "unique" or "chosen".

You see , my dear friend; people could freely criticise and disapprove of Islam and the Muslims, and that is their right.

People could pass judgment on Christianity and Christians without fear of any allegation, and that is their right.

People could freely disapprove of Communists, Marxists, and Anarchists… etc, and that is their right.

But if you try to voice the faintest criticism of Jewish people or Judaism you are in deep deep trouble. The label "anti-Semitic" would haunt you forever.

People could also say –without fear of any accusation, blame, or criminalisation- that they don’t like Islamic extremists, or Hamas, Hezbollah or Christian fundamentalists.

But if you dare say that about Jewish fundamentalists, you risk being charged with anti-Semitism.

The Jewish left don’t mind criticising Zionism, but they would have fits if you referred to Zionists as Jewish fundamentalists, Jewish terrorist, Jewish fascists, Jewish extremists- which -unfortunately- they are.

Why is that so?

What is it that makes people so extra sensitive, with a real blind spot when it comes to this issue?

Why can’t people feel free to examine and disagree with some aspect of Jewish life or Judaism like they do with all other ideologies?

(Of course as long as it is all done in an intellectual, academic mannerism, not in an abusive, insulting or ridiculing way)

Making these issues a taboo would force people to start questioning:

With freedom of thought people doubt/question God, which for many is the Most Holy of all.

Why is it then that Judaism, the Jewish people and the holocaust –unlike anything else in the world- are so sacred and holy that no one is allowed to doubt, examine, or criticise?

If people try to include the suffering of other groups during holocaust memorials, or if they attempted to compare the suffering of other groups to the suffering of Jewish people there would be uproar.

Can you see, dear friend, that there is so much hypocrisy and double standards in this?

My worry is that ignoring these issues by the Jewish left are very counter productive, and it would only raise other people’s suspicion and discomfort –to say the least- with the special treatment that the Jewish people are demanding for themselves.

If Jewish people want to eradicate/ minimize anti Semitism, they must firstly accept to be treated equally like the rest of humanity:

1) They must accept with tolerance any intellectual criticism of Israel  as a Jewish state, to Zionism as a Jewish extremist ideology, to Judaism as religion. For this is what freedom of expression is all about, and all should be included; as long as this freedom is not used to abuse, insult, lie about, slander, or ridicule the other.

2) They must stop the claim of the exclusiveness of their "suffering" whether historical or more recent (the holocaust); for all humanity suffered through the ages and during WW2.

3) They must stop divining the holocaust making it exclusively Jewish, untouchable and beyond any scholarly studies, converting it into a sacred religion.

4) They must accept to live under the same umbrella of principles that apply to the rest of humanity.

Dear friend,

Double standard and hypocrisy makes people angry.

Having a set of rules for the world and another for Jewish people makes people suspicious and paranoid, for why don’t Jewish people refuse to be treated like the rest of the world.

The Jewish extremists (Zionists) believe/want the world to believe that the Jewish people are chosen, special, unique, light onto the nations.

The people of the world have the right to not believe that the Jewish people are chosen, unique, or light onto the nations, for ALL PEOPLE ARE EQUAL.

The Jewish left believe/ wants the world to believe that the suffering of, and the racism against the Jewish people is unique; but all people suffered and still are, all people face racism and still are.

The people of the world have the right to believe that the suffering of the Jewish people is not unique.

Acknowledging the fact that anti-Semitism is one form of racism, and not a unique form of racism is very important too.

Therefore it is vital that the progressive Jewish voices do acknowledge that Jewish people are no better or worse than other humans, and that their suffering is no better or worse than the suffering of others.

The sooner the Jewish people acknowledge these issues, the better.

The sooner they accept to be treated exactly like everyone else, and not as a unique case in every thing, the better; for the Jewish people first and for our world.

With all my love

A letter -from the heart- to my secular friends

Why defend God and Islam?

 And why now?

Dear friends:

It is the wining of the religious Islamic party Hamas in the Palestinian elections that actually prompted this dialogue; it all started with my response to my dear friend Greg’s response to an article I sent to him.

Gradually, I felt the need to shed some light over certain issues. Hence I felt the urge to start writing.

I will try to focus on issues within Islam that -I believe – are seriously misunderstood by non-Muslims. Some of these issues have surfaced through the apparent understandable anxiety of my dear atheist friends in their initial reaction to Hamas’s win.

But before I start defending Islam or talking about God; please don’t ever think that I am trying to preach or convert any one here. I really don’t like preaching or moralizing, as I am absolutely terrified of saying things and failing to live up to them.

Also I am petrified of the deadly disease “I am right and all others are wrong”… (I mean…arrogance) creeping in causing a real down fall of morality and forming a barrier to understanding.

Therefore I welcome with an open heart all responses and criticisms to my letter, as this will only help me understand and appreciate the views of others. Also at this point I’d like to ask you to persevere with me as I appreciate that the topic that I’m discussing might not be one of your favourites!

Here and now, I just am, I try to live what I believe; however, when my faith is misunderstood I feel the need to try to clarify it, because my faith (like many Muslims) means every thing to me.

Simply and frankly my faith is my only reason for….being. Otherwise I would have been gone long ago.

(Even though- I have to admit- deep down in the bottom of my soul I’d like every one to experience and enjoy the feeling of closeness to God; purely because there is nothing, no joy, no happiness, no pleasure that can be compared to it. It’s really the ultimate bliss … it is heaven). But anyway that is not why I am writing.

I will start by explaining the core of the Islamic faith, by that I mean the belief in God.

And here, I am going to draw on my own personal experience just to give you a taste of the magnitude and importance of the concept of God in the Islamic society.

About God:

I started asking questions and thinking about the world and later on about my very own existence, and about God, at a very young age. As a toddler I was fascinated by my surroundings, the trees, birds, flowers, people, but more so the sky, how vast! How beautiful! How perfect! It was always urging me to look at, at first to admire and then to question.

As I grew older my fascination grew deeper, I started to look for meanings and explanations, trying to make sense of what’s around me.

“What is all this? … Why is all this? … Who am I? … Do I really exist? … How and why I can comprehend the fact that I exist? …. Why am I here? … What is the purpose of my life?”

Endless questions burned in my little head.

I thought and contemplated for many years; and while many of my friends were playing I used to be drawn into this world of mine searching for meanings and answers.

The only valid explanation for me was that there must be a perfect designer, a mastermind, an intelligent power behind all. If any thing is to have any meaning at all; this was the only conclusion that I always arrived at.

Later on, and as I went through certain experiences I came to feel God in the real sense. God was as real -if not more- than my own reality.

If faith and the concept of God provides a logical explanation to my existence, and if it helps me understand myself and the world around me in a rational manner, if it can give me a sense of fulfilment, contentment and satisfaction, If it enables me to survive adversities of life with minimum trauma and more patience, grace and sanity, if it fills my soul with love, joy, peace and tranquillity, if it makes life more fun, more enjoyable and my experiences more real and intense ; then how and why should I complain?

After all there is nothing to lose and everything to gain.

As far as I know, no one can prove that God does not exist, logically, there is a possibility no matter how slim -or huge- that there is a God, if that is the case; I through my faith would have lived a happier life and most likely a happier after-life.

It’s a win- win situation! My logic concluded.

Why Islam:

As a teenager I started looking into different religions, I read about all major religions and for a while I was attracted to many concepts of Buddhism, but Islam appealed to my reason and intellect more. It made more sense because of the utter simplicity, clarity, and its ability to unite the seemingly contradictory concepts such as:

faith and knowledge, mind and soul, science and religion, material and spiritual, logic and emotion, political and moral, economic and ethical.

Every thing just blends so effortlessly, smoothly and beautifully.

Moving from the personal to the general, many young people in Islamic  and non-Islamic societies go through similar experiences, those who embark on the path of searching for God, or start a journey of  hunting for meanings of their lives find in Islam a revolutionary way of thinking. It demands a reformed way of living and working for a better world, an ideal world.

The emphases on equality, liberation, and social justice are also land marks that can’t be missed by the seeker. Hence faith becomes inseparable from the daily life of Muslims. Faith is life.

We surrender to the sword of Islam; that irresistible, most tender sword that strikes the mind, invades the heart, and captures the soul.

That’s maybe why Islam-despite the very negative publicity- is still the fastest growing religion in the world.

God is central:

Is it not only reasonable then to assume that secular ideology might not fulfil the needs of a deeply religious society; God lies at the core of the society of faith, while denying God is an essential part of the secular.

Most socio-dynamics in an Islamic society; stems from that belief, starting with God-man relationship, ending with man-nature relationship, including all what is in-between , i.e. the boundaries of personal freedoms, and extents of responsibilities in  the man-man relationship.

That is not to say that it is a rigid society; on the contrary, in fact flexibility and on going debates to advance understanding and tolerance are well noticeable characteristics within those societies. There is no hierarchy system in Islam which allows every knowledgeable, educated Muslim to become part of and to openly contribute to these on going debates.

Another very important point here is the fact that within Islam there are main beliefs and ethics that all Muslims agree with such as belief in God, equality, justice for all, and brotherhood of mankind, also there are differences that stem from man’s understanding, interpretation and adoption of ideas that are deemed to be of less importance, and that can be employed in specific cultures for their own specific needs.

It’s very important to notice here that many cultural practices might be the cause of wrongly condemning Islam, yet Islam’s teachings might oppose explicitly these practices. What comes to mind here is the example of forced marriage in the Pakistani culture that is in total contradiction with the most explicit teaching of Islam.

 Religion and the state:

It might be true that if a religious ideology actually takes state power it can lead to corruption and abuse, but that’s not unique to religious ideologies alone; It also includes secular ideologies, communist ideologies, and most obvious capitalists ideology…etc. We all remember the Soviet Union and the persecution of all religious minorities; secular France and the ill treatment of its ethnic minorities…etc.

It is presumptuous to say that if a religious ideology takes state power that it will inevitably oppress and dominate with dictatorship and violence.  Any leadership, regardless of ethnic or religious ideologies, can fall victim to the corrupting force of power.  Why is there a need to single out religious ideologies as the factor most likely to lead to corruption and dictatorship?

Some people might give the example of Israel as a proof of the corruption and immorality of religious states. Israel is truly a state for Jews but I am not sure at all that it’s a religious state, there are religious political parties but as I understand it they are a minority, the far majority of Jewish people in “Israel” are non religious, secular, and atheists (according to their own researches).

Also when Zionists abuse the fact that Jewish people are entrusted with a great message to all mankind and use it for their own self-interest, it’s not the fault of the message, the messenger nor the faith that they should become selfish, arrogant, greedy and exclusive that they want the land only for themselves.

When some Christians use the pure message of love taught by Jesus (peace be upon him) to justify the crusades or the invasion of Iraq or Iran, it’s hardly the fault of Jesus is it?

Muslims behaving badly:

Coming back to Islam, when Osama Ben Laden for example uses the Quran’s permission of self defence, to justify his deeds, and  his hate for Western hypocrisy and injustice, its surely not the fault of the Quran where in it there are indeed verses that talks about self defence, but very clearly and undoubtedly emphasizing that we should never aggress or transgress.

"O believers, be you guardians of justice, witness for God. Let not your dislike for a people move you away from being equitable; be equitable – that is nearer to being God-conscious." (5:8)

"No soul shall be made to bear the burden of another." (35:18)

But show them forgiveness, and say "Peace!" and soon shall they know!” (43; 89)

“The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from God; for (God) loveth not those who are wrong-doers”. (42:40)

‘Fight in the cause of God against those who fight you, but do not initiate aggression. God does not love transgressors.’ (2.190)

Prophet Muhammad, Peace be upon him, once famously declared "Verily I was sent to this World to define (and live by) the Generous Temperament."

According to him, the codes of Generous Temperament (makarem elakhlaq) are seven: “Pardoning those who have oppressed you, Giving to those who have deprived you, Connecting with those who have shunned you, Benefiting those who have abused you, Counselling those who have deceived you, Forgiving those who have maligned you, Forbearing with those who have angered you.”

The root of the word Islam is Salam, which is one of the Holy Names of God.

When a Muslim greets another Muslim person with "as’Salam alaikum," it becomes obligatory for the other person to respond to the greeter and complete the contract with "wa’alaikum as’Salam," which is Arabic for "and upon you may Peace be."

“When a (courteous) greeting is offered you, meet it with a greeting still more courteous, or (at least) of equal courtesy. God takes careful account of all things” (4:86)

Based on the teaching of Muhammed, the practice of Islam, the Religion of Peace, revolves primarily around the codes of the Generous and Benevolent Temperament. Applying the codes of the Generous Temperament is called in Arabic Jihad al-Akbar (Higher Struggle) –which is the Major Struggle in the never ending inner war against one’s arrogance, greed, and selfishness.

It’s not the fault of the teaching when some people’s minds are poisoned with feelings of injustice, humility, and helplessness that lead them to inflect harm upon others. It’s not the ideology that drives people to do wrong; rather it’s their limited, imperfect, interpretation that is tainted with their personal experiences, psychological tendencies, circumstances and human flaws and imperfections.

But in all honesty and from my experience working with secular people as yourselves (I’m referring here to my friends members of Liverpool Friends of Palestine) I found in all of you a God-centre-ness that is lacking in many people of faith.

By that I mean within you my dear wonderful friends- that I grew to admire and love so much- there is a noble driving force towards justice equality and perfection, there shines within you a desire to establish an utopian society, a thirst for the ideal ultimate good; and from my humble perception I can only see the divine within you even though you might not recognise it and even deny it.

By the divine within you I mean: In Islam man is created in the image of God ( not at all in the physical sense, as God is Unique, and there is nothing like unto Him/Her as God has no gender, God is above all our perceptions).

It means that our innate nature is modelled to long and desire to live by God’s attributes and characteristics, to long for perfection for God is Perfection. To long for justice; for God is Justice. To long for love; as God is Love. To long for peace; for God is Peace…etc. So your innate nature is so pure, unspoiled, and well-preserved that you are yearning and working to live by those Godly attributes.

Democracy and Freedom of choice:

Back to the Palestinian issue , if the world’s support for human rights in Palestine is conditional and dependent on the Palestinians denouncing their religion and ideological beliefs, cultural heritage, and social traditions and adopting a new set of beliefs, alien values and social behaviours that matches what its culture deems acceptable (i.e. extramarital relationships, homosexuality, prostitutes, etc…); that means the world is denying them a most basic human right, the right to think, and live within a chosen ethical code.

“Say: O you that reject Faith (atheists)!  I worship not that which you worship, and you do not worship that which I worship... To you be your Way, and to me mine”. (109:1-6)

“We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will)”. (76:3)

We have to come to common grounds of accepting that each culture and civilization has its own unique structure that depends very much on a huge heritage and millennia of accumulated experiences, understanding this and respecting it is vital for the future peaceful existence of human race. Trying to standardise and sum up humanity in the form of Western civilisation is a grave mistake. We can’t simply assume that what is good and right for the western culture is the norm, nor we can accept that it is superior to that of other cultures, and for me this is a BASIC HUMAN RIGHT. The Muslim world has suffered enormously from colonial imperialism, military and economic occupation, we are longing for FREEDOM, but the freedom that we long most for is the FREEDOM of THOUGHT.

To simply assume that secularism is the best for the entire world including Muslims is some how dismissive of our rights to think and make choices.

The Left in the West sees in secularism the best ideology for the world  but to assume that it should be viewed as such by every one else is “kind of arrogance” and appears to me to be a new form of imperialism I dare to call “thought imperialism”.

So please don’t panic if the whole of the Muslim world chose at any point in the future to live by its Islamic values. Without a doubt every society are entitled to self determination including the way in which they want to run their society and how to define their own ethics.

“Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain felicity”. (3:104)

"And their affairs are (conducted) through consultation among themselves." (42:38)

“By the Night as it conceals; By the Day as it appears in glory; By the creation of male and female; Verily, (the ends) you strive for are diverse. So he who gives (in charity) and is God-conscious, and (in all sincerity) confirms the good, We will pave his way to bliss. But he who is a greedy, stingy and thinks himself self-sufficient, and denies the good, We will indeed pave his way to Misery. His wealth will not be of any help to him when he falls headlong (into the Pit)” (92:1-11)

You can start panicking if they start treating people with injustice and began oppressing and abusing their power; in that eventuality I’ll be panicking with you and campaigning with you to stop the injustice and oppression; as it’s a well known Islamic principal that it is better to live under a JUST NON-ISLAMIC GOV. or leadership than living under a corrupt Islamic one.

Please remember that what might seem to the outsider as restrictive in our Islamic culture is viewed from within as constructive and that’s simply because we have the family’s best interest at the heart of society, and we put it before the individual, without ignoring the rights of the individual.

Our society is not the sum of the individuals, rather it’s a very strong network of families and extended families, the result is very well bonded social fabric. We also see that we are all born free but our freedom ends where and when the freedom of the other starts. If we choose freely to have some restriction upon ourselves (like modest dress code, abstinence from consuming alcohol or self-discipline in sexual behaviour) in order to have better human relationships what harm is there in that? Islamic society is not a selfish one.

“If any one does a righteous deed, it ensures to the benefit of his own soul; if he does evil, it works against (his own soul). In the end will you (all) be brought back to your Lord”. (45; 15)

Freedom of speech: Another aspect that might worry you is “freedom of speech and expression” again I can reassure you that it is granted through Islamic teachings, but it should not be abused as it is in some places, if freedom of speech will bring lies, slander or insults to create a society where rudeness is celebrated, lies are acceptable, and harassment is tolerable, then I can tell you now that it’s a freedom not welcomed by Muslims.

We appreciate all forms of freedom of speech and expression as long as it does not transgress over the freedom of the other and within the frame work of intellectual debates and honest research of truth and mutual respect of all.

"Do not enter any houses unless you are sure of their occupant’s consent.” (24:27)

“O ye who believe! Let not some men among you make fun of others: It may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women make fun of others: It may be that the (latter are better than the (former): Nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong”. (49:11)

“O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin: And spy not on each, nor speak ill of each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, ye would abhor it…But be God-conscious. For God is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful”. (49:12)

“O ye, who believe! If a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain the truth, lest ye harm people unwittingly and afterwards become full of repentance for what ye have done”. (49:6)

In summary: “O ye, who believe, do not let one (set of) people make fun of another set. Do not defame one another. Do not insult by using nicknames. Do not spy on one another. Do not backbite or speak ill of one another."(49:11-12)

Minorities: In our Islamic heritage we have so much to ensure the rights of all minority groups; it’s a matter of uncovering, reclaiming and reactivating that legacy that has been frozen for many centuries.

In a Muslim society the minority groups are referred to as ahl eldhimmeh, a foreigner living in a Muslim land is called: dhimmi which means in  Arabic the protected:  under my dhimmeh, means under my protection that might give us a gesture of the importance of protecting and looking after minorities in a Muslim society.

A well known saying of the prophet “Who ever harms a dhimmi harms me personally”.

I have to point out that one of the major concepts in Islam is that there is “no compulsion in religion or ideology” (2:256). And remember that throughout history minorities of all ethnic, religious, and ideological back ground have lived peacefully in Muslim lands enjoying full rights and responsibilities. A glaring example is the Christian community living in Palestine for centuries with full rights. The keys of the Church of Resurrection are still entrusted with a Muslim family who look after the church. That was Christian’s choice to reduce the tension between different Christian sects.

‘O mankind! We created you from a single soul, male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may come to know one another. Truly, the most honoured of you in God’s sight is the greatest of you in piety. God is All-Knowing, All-Aware’. (49.13)

“(All) people are a single nation.” (II:213)

“And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colours: verily in that are Signs for those who know”.(30-22)

Much of the unnatural hostility that we see in the news today stems from yet again the frustration of many ignorant young Muslims who are aggravated by the injustice inflected upon their brothers and sisters by the west in many parts of the world.

Economy, between socialism and capitalism: According to Muslim economists, Islam offers a highly developed system of wealth distribution that if applied can potentially eliminate poverty and prevent the accumulation of wealth in the hands of a few, yet it doesn’t deprive the individual from attaining some rewards for his /her creativity and hard work.

It strikes the balance between the selfish capitalism and the unrealistic altruistic communism. Having the financial world wrapped in ethical and moral practices bridges the gap between the rich and the poor, and leads to a more just and stable society. Also it’s a system that has at its core the concept of zero interest.

“God will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity: For He loveth not creatures ungrateful and wicked. Those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and establish regular prayers and regular charity, will have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. O ye who believe! Be God-conscious, and give up what remains of your demand for usury, if ye are indeed believers.”(2: 276-278)

"And from within their wealth there is acknowledged right for the needy and the destitute." (51:19)

“O ye who believe! Devour not usury, doubled and multiplied; but be God-conscious. That ye may (really) prosper” (3:130)

“If the debtor is in a difficulty, grant him time till it is easy for him to repay. But if ye remit it by way of charity, that is best for you if ye only knew”. (2:280)

“Woe to those that deal in fraud, Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. Do they not think that they will be called to account?”(83:1-4)

“By no means shall ye attain righteousness unless ye give (freely) of that which ye dearly love; and whatever ye give truly God knoweth it well”. (3;92)

The Prophet has said:

"He is not a believer who eats his fill when his neighbour beside him is hungry";

and: "He does not believe whose neighbours are not safe from his injurious conduct."

Why don’t we see this happening now in Islamic societies? It is not happening because we don’t really have a proper Islamic society. What we have are puppet governments that have no interest in applying Islam, because their interests will be severely jeopardised if Islamic principals are to be applied.

And as a whole Muslim societies generally speaking  make most of the” developed” world, that was and still is the battle field of the capitalist imperialist world. Also illiteracy is still very high, in those countries, and understanding and living by Islam is not possible with lack of knowledge.

That also might explain the lack of practice of Islamic principles in many Muslim societies and the absence of various original values in the daily life of many Muslims today. Despite that fact there is still so much intuitive genuine love and admiration for Islamic principals and for its prophet and teacher Muhammed even in those societies.

My secular friends-3

Women’s’ issues:

If your worry is about discrimination against women under Islamic societies, and the anticipation that women will be forced to cover their heads or will be prevented from driving; we aught to be far more worried and in fact alarmed by Secular France’s real actions when forcing Muslim women to take their head scarves off or be banned from work and education.

I wonder which of these cases deserves our attention. And which of the two cases requires our campaign to protect the human rights and freedom of choice of women?

Freedoms and equality are not necessarily granted under secular regimes: Secular Tunisia, France, and Turkey, all prohibit Muslim women from exercising their freedom of choosing to wear a head cover in work places, schools, and universities.

Islam clearly values and protects women’s rights, if not sure some research might be worth doing.  And please do not rely in your research about Islam on the media, because just as they have given a one sided view on the Palestinian-Israeli problem, they give – to a greater extent – a misinformed view on Islam. (Remember to include Muslim women views in your request for truth).

Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him will We give a new Life, a life that is good and pure and We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions”. (16-97)

When talking about women’s rights, again we – Muslims – must be allowed to deal with the ills of our societies in our own way, own time, and through our own research; all we need is time to transfer the inherited  fundamental values into the realm of understanding and then practice. No one should try to impose any pre-tried solutions upon us, because your problems are different, your history is different, your present is different, and your attitudes are different.

Women in Europe needed to rebel and go through their feminists struggle to gain some rights and some freedoms, that doesn’t imply that we should take a carbon copy of their experience and transfer it to the rest of the world.

We have a different history and different reality; at the time of the peak of oppression of women in Europe; Muslim women were prominent figures of society, scholars teaching in major mosques and universities, doctors, poets…etc.

We appreciate that- like all societies- we have problems, some small and some big; how do we choose to resolve these problems however should be entirely ours, it should not be forced upon us.

The relationship between western feminists and fellow men is one of competitiveness and confrontation, not in our society though… we like to deal with men in a less aggressive way, and we see them as companions, brothers, husbands, and friends. When they transgress we like to be more wise and gentle in bringing them back to their senses.

Western feminists in the past tried solving their problems through the approach that the only way to be equal to men is to be like men, act like a man, dress like a man; from our perspective this is the big downfall of the feminists in the west. They couldn’t hold on to their own femininity in their struggle, without realizing that by doing so they were saying that men are better.

It has been pointed out to me however that many feminists today do not hold the above views  as a  way of women liberation, and that they realise that they don’t need to change at all as women, because they don’t have a problem (good for them).

It is men who have the problem. That might be true, but again from an Islamic perspective men and women are humans, both have the vulnerability of falling prey to inflicting injustice, and mistreating of each other, man may be to a greater extent (because he is physically stronger -but not necessarily emotionally, intellectually, or spiritually stronger).

If one party is guilty of injustice we can find means of solving the conflict through education and dialogue. The main idea is that we are not enemies of men we are their complementary partners and twin-halves.

Conclusion:

None of us on this earth created him/ her self, we just found our selves here, existing. None of us is perfect. None of us is a god. Through our life experiences, our environment, our personalities, our psychological tendencies, and our intellect we somehow try to find a logical explanation of it all. We try to make sense of our existence, and we adopt the ideology that is more likely to satisfy our thirst for a meaningful existence.

None of us should dismiss the paths, experiences and conclusions of the other. All of us should find room in each other’s hearts to understand and tolerate those whom we disagree with; as their views are as valid to them as ours to us.

Finally, all I am asking from you my dear friends is to have an open mind, to exercise your principals of tolerance of the other especially when it comes to religion in general and Islam in particular, to appreciate that those 1.9 billion Muslims in the world may have something to say, they deserve to be heard for once.

I am appealing to your conscious and to your beautiful analytical critical minds to re-examine the concept “religion is the opium of people” in a sincere honest scientific search aiming at understanding the other and in hope for building a better future for all mankind.

It is only through dialogue, communication, and listening to the other that we can come to understand each other.

Bearing in mind that the stereotyping of us Muslims and categorizing us as such:

 1) A gang of murderers and terrorists,

2) A group of brainless misguided beings,

3) A bunch stupid fundamentalists fanatics,

4) Or a few intellectual liberal oppressed secularists

This is indeed an unfair and unscientific representation of the truth.

These are labelling that one gets from the exposure to the media in this country. These classifications demands from every free-thinker serious re-examining and it deserves at least a fairer and fresh new look into analysing Islam and Islamic principals before passing miss-informed judgements, going on repeating in a parrot fashion what the media throws at us.

I believe that doing so is vital for achieving a society that lives by principals of tolerance and hence a more stable and peaceful world.

 ***********************************************************

Please note, the numbers after some quotations are their correspondence verses from the Qur’an.

The reason I used these many quotations from the Qur’an is to demonstrate to you that that the claims I made about Islam is not just fantasy of my own creation.

All these concepts stem directly from the book that we uphold as Divine, hence we see as sacred, the adherences to tolerance and the strive to live by ethical values, and to respect human rights; despite the deviation of some very angry Muslims from the main stream of Islam.

Further more, we have two main sources of reference books; the first is the Qur’an that we believe is the Divine revelation to the illiterate prophet. That book we believe stayed intact without a single word added to or deleted from it.

For the last 1400 years it has kept its original purity and authenticity; today -and as always- millions of Muslims world wide know this book off by heart including children as young as six-year olds. I think that this is an exceptional and unique quality to the Qur’an, I am not aware of any other book ever that has enjoyed the same effect or achievement.

The other sources are collections of sayings or doings of the prophet: Hadith. These collections were gathered by people about 150 years after the death of Muhammed. They are not viewed as authentic as the Qur’an; they are prone to human errors and forgetfulness. Yet within them there are so much that emphasizes the teaching of the Quran and enhances the knowledge of the exemplary life of Muhammed.
